He has had Sky in the past, but the winds howling up the Bristol channel dislodge the dish and reception is poor and often non-existant.

    WB.

A properly fitted Sky Dish will not move.;)

Sounds like your aerial is misaligned if it's facing due west across the Bristol Channel, where it would pick up one of the Welsh transmitters. According to that data the Portishead relay is due south west. i.e. a bit down the coast.
If the wind is strong enough to move a Sky dish. then it will move an aerial too, so get the alignment checked out.

I doubt that's a cabled area. Cable is mostly just in big cities.

I wasn't sure - I know my dad can't get it where he lives, which is also BS20, but he lives in a village and I thought Portishead might be able to since it's a bigger town.

That postcode is not in a VM cabled area.

Its a couple of days too late to announce that North Somerset is to become an officially Welsh speaking area then?

When tunning the freeview box or tv dont plug the ariel in until its reached chanel 57 (thats on my samsung tv) as the welsh chanels come through first if the areial anint in it wont pick them up but when you do put areial in after it should then pick the local chanels.

I don't know where the Portishead relay is. .

The site is on a block of flats on Friary Road at 51.4839,-2.78194 check in Google Maps.

Sorry it won't let me post the link here as im a new user.

Personally I would go with the other advice in this thread and go for DSAT.
