PC Problem - Help needed please

Options
My son's pc has completely messed up and everytime its booted up we can enter password the all it loads with is a black screen and the documents folder opens up. No desktop icons or anything load. We can get to task manager and put explorer.exe in and that gets the desktop back up but it will not load the internet despite being connected. As soon as the pc is restarted or rebooted the same thing happens again. Is it a virus or something else wrong? I ran AVG and it found one virus which we got rid of but that didnt help at all and we are still having the same problem. Any advice on this would be great :)

You could try taking/sending the broken cd's to where you bought them and explain what your daughter did.You never know they may take pity on you and give you replacements.

I recall when my son managed to drag a Windows system folder to the wrong location with one causal mouse swipe which crashed the machine. This is how delicate Windows it, blame Gates! In that instance I managed to spot the move, dragged it back and all was well again.

Is windows 7 four years old? I thought it was more recent.
