    Its a modern nice to drive supermini they will always keep their value. My friends petrol Phase 2 has now done 70k and it still sounds like a new car. It is now due for some repairs but apart from new pads and a couple of oil changes the car is original. Even two year tyres appear to be original!!

    Well unfortunately someone else got there before us and bought the car :(

    We are also considering a 1.2 petrol as well. Is there much difference in econonmy between the diesel and petrol models?

    We've got a peugeot 1.5 diesel, phase 1, Never does below 55 mpg.
    In two and half years all I've replaced is is the disks, pads, rear shoes, glow plugs and the tyres. Bought at 95k, it's at 130k now. Cost £475.
    Petrol is alot less mpg.

    Wifes ex 52 pte 1.5 diesel never did less than 60 and approached 80 on a run.

    Her sister has a 1.2 petrol does about 40 and not much more on a run (I'm told).

    I live in a village which has had a Renault Main Dealer for more years than I can remember.

    Guess what the fitters drive?

    Clue.....it ain't Renaults.. :rotfl:

    Wow, :Tyou have found a Renault garage that employs fitters?, you'd better let me know where it is, my local ones employ monkeys, now that is a grouse of mine and lots of others on the Reny forums, :beer:

    Petrol 40ish, if it's ok.

    So unless you do a high mileage, you'll not notice a great saving.

    15000mileas per year is pretty much breakeven point, as a guideline, for diesel becoming a more fuel efficient option, if you go for like for like vehicles.

    Totally disagree mate. MPG? we couldn't get ours to drink diesel if we tried.

    The extra cost of a diesel?, over a petrol engined variant? it's much of a myth now provided you don't buy new.

    1.2 petrol 160,000 miles.

    starts first time. cost 45 pounds for mot parts. brakes, discs and track rod end.

    Also got a frontera that the wife used for work.

    she now uses the clio and the difference in fuel pays the tax and insurance on the frontera.
