    Hi dixie dean,

You must not freeze water.......it will curdle and separate and give you all sorts of lurgy. After defrosting the only thing it will be fit for is washing,or bearing in mind your iron constitution, you could consider drinking it, but only if it looks and smells ok. Please remember that you must not refreeze it once it has been frozen.

What a good memory you have! Of course I would never dream of refreezing grill-thawed ice that was once water. What kind of mad man do you take me for?
And if, you know, your history...

Back to the defrosting question - would a slow cooker not be ideal for this purpose ? You do have one Dixie don't you ?:D

I wouldn't bother. I've tried it before, it tends to go a bit soggy when defrosted.

That is true, but if you pour the water into ice cube trays BEFORE freezing, you can use the water in it's frozen state for cooling your drinks - a nice glass of water for example.:D

Oh for heaven's sake - don't waste money on a slow cooker - simply defrost it in your breadmaker. The shortest programme will do.

Tut, tut ... a slow cooker..... Not very "Old" at all.

You young whippersnappers. Next, you'll be suggesting that get a phone we can take with us when we go out and about, so we can always be contacted

Found a recipe for you troo:

One teenager (preferably dragged out of bed in the early morning)
Lots and lots of grill thawed ice

Take aforedmentioned teenager, douse in grill thawed ice, leave to marinade in the freezer until around the end of August.
