I don't quite follow your logic about only giving your business to the well known brands. TalkTalk and Orange are well known broadband brands, but would you want to give your business to them?
Zen Internet regularly come top in broadband surveys, but the average user probably hasn't heard of them, simply because they don't have the huge advertising clout of the big brands like TT.
Plusnet Value on your exchange would be £11.99 and still runs over exactly the same network as BT, you just don't pay for inflated BT prices and lousy customer service.

You may know a lot about Plusnet, I do not. When I shop on the internet I do not just do a comparison for the goods I am buying, then go for the cheapest. That is a sure way of losing my money, I only use sites that I know & trust I do not always go for cheapest. BT should be a brand I can trust.

As I said I have had a phone line with them for years & had no probs. I have heard of Zen but too expensive for me. Orange BB has bad reviews so I ruled them out. Is TT still owned by carphone warehouse?

I'm not recommending Plusnet because they are the cheapest. I'm recommending them because they are better than BT. The fact that they are also cheaper is a bonus.
Plusnet have been an MSE best buy for a year or so now.
