Hi All,
I am thinking about renting out my flat and was wondering what kind of insurance I need ? The management company advises buildings insurance is included in the ground rent.
Do I need Landlords Contents insurance at all ? I am currently debating on leaving the property furnished or unfurnished.
Can anyone recommend any good insurance ? as the lettings agent as recommend their own at £70 a year.

You need a landlord insurance policy to cover you, some times called a buy-to-let insurance policy. You can get cover for both furnished and unfurnished property, ask the insurer for details... basicly even if your property is unfurnished you could need cover in case of fire damage (including cover for the loss of rent income during repair), as well as 'Legal Expenses' cover (usually optional) in case you have to take your tenants to court for non payment of rent while still in occupation of the property.
Here's a link to a list of phone numbers of some decent landlord insurance companies..
