best card to use in the usa

What is the best credit card to use in the usa. I resent these articles which say I have to pay hidden extra charges overseas. I have heard the nationwide is favourable. Any recommendatios please.

Nationwide Visa or Saga VISA if you are over fifty

AFAIK Nationwide is the only card with no hidden fees. I use my Nationwide CC in shops/restauarnts etc. when over there & get cash out with my NW debit card. I never get any US Dollars over here, get them from a cash machine at the airport when you land.
Always use a bank cash machine (Bank of America are everywhere) & not the machines in shops & gas stations, these will have a fee of $2 or so.

Is that a nat west debit card? Are there fees incured if you get money with a british debit card. Thanks in advance

I assume it was a Nationwide debit card as NatWest charge.

Both the nationwide debit card and credit card give fee free transactions abroad. My advice would be do do as said and use the credit card for shops, meals etc. and the debit card to withdrawn money avoiding the cash advance fee on the credit card. Also watch for dynamic currencey convertion where the bank processing the transaction set the exchange rate rather than visa. Always pay you bill in the local currency as this will be cheaper

Only thing I found using nationwide debit card in ATM's is the local banks were charging us $2 to $5 dollars a time for using the mashine. Last year the bank of America did not charge but this year they did. Credit card charges no fees and you get the comercial rate which means more $ for your £.

so i presume the bank rate is more favorable?
