Hugs Buffy. It does sound like she needs to get out of the house, and if shopping is the only place she goes, then you end up with too much stuff. She needs to find somthing close by doesnt she hun xxxx

Yeah which is why something like a dog (small) might be good cos then she could walk it (and me too), stuff like puppy classes too, we had lots of dog owning friends before. And it would be great company for her during the day, (cos this sounds a bit bonkers but doing the walk with me it shows how much time she spends sitting still - which at her age is obviously fine BUT I don't think she even watches tv or anything. )

    or perhaps something like knitting

And I really need to learn to drive. cos then I could take her to hobby caft.

    hmmm.

    Nevertheless she persisted.

It's been quite fair up here all day, a bit overcast but ok, don't know if I dare hang my washing out though!

I am sorting out some new tunes for running to on my ipod! No more long runs now before the Blackpool half marathon just short ones tonight, parkrun tomorrow and short ones on Monday & Friday next week.

THEN>>> Our first EVER Bradford parkrun on Sat 10 April :T and I'll drive to Blackpool on saturday afternoon :D

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

I'm really glad there isn't a Hobbycraft near us, I'd spend a fortune in there!

Kintting clubs... here, here and here. Or search papercraft/scrapbooking clubs, they are everywhere too. What about walking dogs for a local charity? P/t job in a charity shop? Swimming clubs? Book club? What about joining the WI, you could join too as there is no min age now ;) Oh and find some table top stalls to go to in the summer where you can sell some of her 'stuff'... There must be something's around where you live that she can do either free/small charges.

Could you get her into a college course? Computer ones are free around here for adults or they are heavily discounted. Or she could learn a new language. She would then meet new people there and they could do things in the day?

As for having too much food/stuff. Could she help sell/ebay so of it to cover the cost of the boiler. Or maybe sell stuff and save or a holiday? The food issue wll need to be tackled seperately, but you say she is scared of running out of things could you try and make her understand that won;t happen? Or maybe start growing your own veg etc so she is 'providing'?

Prob all stupid ideas but there you go :rotfl:

I've hung all my washing out and it's looking distinctly dodgy now!

Buffy, you said that you mum did this also when you were little. Could it be that when she was little, there wasn't much food for the family? It could be a symptom of something else and it's getting out of control.

For some reason my puss cats are both sat staring and miaowing at me!
Hmmm, there's a small possibility that it's food related.
