Snaggs - glad the date went well. You may not be hungover but he was drinking too so give him a chance to defuzz his tongue and stop the banging in his head before he gets in touch;)

:) I'm not that worried, strangely. I am looking at it that if he likes me, he will be in touch. If not, then I will get over it. He hasn't been online at all, and I know he was spending the day with a friend who is visting from Hong Kong, so I'm not really expecting to hear from him today...although it would be nice. :o

Well done on the 5k. I wanted to run today but I can barely walk without serious pain from my neck so I guess it's not going to happen!

Have eaten rubbish all [STRIKE]week[/STRIKE] month, so from tomorrow I am going to be healthy, eat proper meals, and try to get more sleep. Will rest my neck until Wednesday, but then I will get back into the running, starting with a nice 5k round the reservoir.

I have not had a single crumb of chocolate all day. Probably because nobody bought me an egg:( (although there is time - different opening laws in Scotland and M's is open...) Have done a 5k run - might be more ready for a park run than I thought....

:T:T:T on the :T5K, sorry about the chocolate - didn't Nathan get any either? You usually have to test it for babies...

    afternoon

just sitting down for 5, its A MADHOUSE HERE trying to get everything clean, bathroom looking better, still needs more tiles on the floor and 1 in theshower and they need grouting, need to buy more grout tomorrow, the pipes need to be boxed in and the box tiled, and the false wall behind the toilet tiled.

the one wall needs to be skimmed and another wall plastered, and a waste pipe into the sink, and the pipes need to be swapped so that the hot and cold taps are right, then it will be finished. Were hoping by tomorrow evening it will be done, then its just waiting for the plaster to dry before we can paint.

According to dh its my fault it hasn't been finished :(

How on earth can it be your fault Claire? Didn't your OH take any part in planning it all and figuring it out, since as he seems to be such a 'I'm man of the house' type it should have been right up his street? In fact, why isn't he doing any of the work? My dad put bathrooms in two houses, plastered the living room in one, put a kitchen in... mainly cos he's too tight to pay anyone to do stuff!
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

    I dunno

He's critisised everything the poor bloke has done, think hes jelous that he can't do it, and i've got someone that was willing to help me bathe safely, (yes i know i'm paying him, but he kept labour costs down)

At least it will get finished even if we have a mess here and the job has overrun a bit, i've been waiting for 4-5 years for the bathroom to be done, plus every room dh has started decorating has never been finished

  • Good grief, all I seem to be doing is asking for advice lately. :rotfl:

One of the flats downstairs has an unpaid gas bill for about £600. It's addressed to The Occupier, Flats 1-7, so obviously the gas company doesn't know which flat it is. Someone's opened it and left it on the side, obviously wondering if it was for them, then realising it wasn't, which is how I know about it because I looked at it. Bit stupid really, other people opening it, since this flat has been getting letters about their gas bill, addressed the same way, since about Nov. Alice upstairs phoned the gas company and they gave her the meter code so we know which flat owes the money. They're students as well and maybe I'm just thinking the best of people here but I presume that if they had the money, they'd pay it, which means they don't.

I know what that feels like, or I wouldn't be here. And part of me really wants to help them since they're obviously struggling. Also, I don't want the aggro of debt collectors showing up on the doorstep. Do you think CCCS or one of the other DMP services could help them? It only seems to be the one debt and they're more designed for people who owe to lots of different companies, it seems. Then again, if the rest of their post is addressed properly, they could have defaulted on all their bills and I wouldn't have a clue. Anyway, to bring this marathon post to an end, should I talk to them and mention where they can get help, or maybe just print off the sticky from the forums on where to get help and stick it in an envelope with their post, along with the bill and maybe an anonymous note? Or should I just leave it be? Me and Alice have handed them the last bill so we know they know we know. I'm just not sure what to do.

Not sure really Kayleigh. They are obviously aware of the situation, and if it's just one gas bill, they are probably better speaking to the gas company rather than the CCCS etc. If you do decide to try to point them in the right direction, I would definitely keep it anonymous, as they might not be happy that others are aware of their situation and might not be happy if they feel others are 'sticking their noses in' (although I know you would only be doing it with the best of intentions).

Ok, I'll just write them a letter but I won't sign it.
