I prefer waxing to other methods and recommend you try it. A good beauty therapist can work with hair growing in different directions etc and will minimise the discomfort. I've generally only had bruises from inexperienced therapists.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0

I agree Katsu.
Much better than shaving or depilatory creams.Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
I hate depilatory creams - they really smell, give me a rash and the hair seems to be grow really quickly. oh to be a little, almost hair free blonde...
Sugaring? threading? anyone tried those? are they more for small areas? eg eyebrows...Mortgage OP 2025 £7050/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

I recommend:
* a cup of coffee (the caffine helps) and a paracetamol beforehand (at least for your first time or when it is a sensitive time of the month). I don't do this any more but have done it.
* avoiding that sensitive time of the month (i.e. just before your time of the month) as it hurts more then
* using a body scrub beforehand - a nice grainy one. You can even use it on your bikini line. Removing dead skin makes it less painful. I use a body scrub every time I shower and have a good scrub as close as I can to the appt time.

Oh but the PAIN. Seriously, red hair is notoriously tough and wiry. I know it grows back softer so perhaps it's worth contemplating. Just not yet....YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0 -
I get my eyebrows threaded-it works really well and seems to take longer to grow back too....
Bun-what are the waxers doing wrong then to give me a graze in a ahem, sensitive area? Wax too hot maybe??Debt-free...and staying that way...0 -
I think it all depends on how they pull the hair out SRM, when they pull the strips off, the have to keep the strips close to the skin and pull off parallell to your skin.
Sugaring can be used on the bikini area afaik, I've not tried it. I have had my eyebrows threaded but personally prefer waxing, although, it doesnt hurt me anymore.
You can have lazer treatment but its not cheap! Gets rid of hair permanently!Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -

Eyebrow threading is v painful for me too....more so than having them waxed. It does achieve a better shape though. Just makes my eyes water a lot.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

I don't really find veet any better than shaving except it irritates the skin slightly less. I used to get a bikini wax once a month but I can't afford it at the moment, and I started getting lots of ingrowing hairs which is not attractive.
Yes it does hurt (depending on your threshold, my friend once described having a tattoo as no worse than leg waxing!), but it's over in less than 10 minutes. The worst thing you can do is tense up, I could not relax the first time and my skin got ripped but that was my fault and it never happened again. Even now (3 or 4 years after stopping waxing regularly) its still less hair than the rest.
Edit - when I can save up for it, I'm probably going to have the laser treatment done, total cost is around £600 but it works out to about 3 years of waxing once a month so i think it's worth it!Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16
