DFS - Scatter Cushions

I had a sofa delivered in nov/dec 2008 and within 3-4 months the zip section on the scatter cushions was fraying on the cushion material - I had these mended by DFS and when I collected them I told them that I wasn't happy with the repair but I would see how they went - about 6-8 weeks later the material started fraying again and again they repaired with with what little material was left to which they could sew the zip on although I asked for replacements. Earlier on this year I noticed that one of the zips had frayed yet again and contacted their head office who passed it onto the store and they have come and collected them again and tried to repair them but this time they realised they couldn't repair them - they said they would order new ones from the supplier and after 5 days they told me they would take 2 weeks to come in - after 2 weeks they then phoned me to say it would take another week. they have now phoned me to say they can't get the material to make new ones so want me to go into the store to look at different ones and have suggested one which I have looked on the net at and is a totally different colour. I was wondering where I stand on replacements and what I should accept? The scatter cushions were one of the reasons I picked the sofa in the first place as they finished it off well.

have you asked for a refund - that way you could use the money to buy the cushions elsewhere or pay to get them specially made up for you?0

when I spoke to them earlier they said to come into the store see if the alternative ones look ok - I asked them if I don't like them what can they do next and they said well we'll see if it comes to that - they aren't very helpful at the store as when I asked for them to call me back they didn't bother and I had to ring them back to get answers.0

All this over a few sponge filled squares??
I am SO glad I don't work in retail, I simply couldn't deal with customers like this.0 -

On sofas like this the scatter cushions are an integral part of the sofa:
I am also glad you didn't go into retail given your complete disregard for consumer satisfaction and trivialising a genuine complaint.0 -
The above 2 girls should get a room!0

I paid a lot of money for my sofa and as pulliptears said they are an integral part and they did sway me towards the sofa and they were the start to making the room look like it does - so thanks but no thanks for a silly little comment like that from you!
If you bought something and part of it was broken within a few months and repaired twice and then has to go away for a third repair surely you wouldn't be happy - remember a sofa is for life (well 5-6 years maybe) and not just for pre-christmas!
I am going into store tomorrow so hopefully they can sort something out.0
