Can anybody advice me - travelling to Cyrpus and wondered if I am better to take Euro's over with me (exchange over here) or it has been suggested I take sterling over with me and change it in Cyprus. What is better?

Would depend on where you are buying currency and what happens to the pound-euro exchange rate. If you had a Nationwide visa debit card using it in ATMs in Cyprus would be the best option.0

This is widely known as the best way of getting you're Euros and i'll be doing this in Paphos in May.
Get yourself a Flexaccount as i did a while back just for this purpose, save yourself some ££ this way.0 -

From June Nationwide are putting an end to ATM withdrawls outside of the UK unless you have a full account with the Blue Visa debit card, which not everyone is able to get. If you already have a Flexaccount and don't have the blue card, you'll soon not be able to take your money out abroad.
I would recommend the Fairfx Anywhere card. (They have a Euro one, but the rate is actually better on the £'s one) The fee is 1.5% which is cheaper than the 2.75% the bank will charge0 -

I've got a Flexaccount with a run of the mill debit card ( which is blue) i do hope that's the card you're on about! and not some other new card.
EDIT Done some digging and Flexaccount holders with the VISA debit card are not affected - didnt realise there was/is another type of card issued called a cash card+ which is the card affected.0 -

There are currently 3 colours of cards on a flex account, Brown (atm only) green (atm and £50 cheque card) and blue ( full visa debit)
the first 2 are being changed to the new cash+ card, and can't be used abroad, customers with the green card are going to lose their overdraft facility and cheque facility unless they are upgraded to the full service.0 -
I've just come back from Kato Paphos and got my Euros from the Post Office for 1.0707. Whilst walking around in Paphos I saw Euros advertised at 1.10 for Sterling cash.0
