New private seller Ebay listing limits

For once I agree with ebay!
I actually agree with them twice: Even though I'm hit by the clothing postage limits it will filter out a degree of sellers who profit from postage.
Try sending a coat quickly for £4 tracked though...Are you a Thrifty Beatnik?0 -

Listing fee is 15p, but here's the thing, we give you 100 freeeeeeeee! :j
No obligation to buy more, and no subsciption charge, brilliant! This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.0 -
i also do not agree this is a good idea. to me it is ebay realising that they are missing out on listing fees since the 99p or less free listing came in. I always start my listings at 99p, if they only make that then so be it but i can assure you it is not tat, some are very good quality clothes which are never worn but need rehoming. The 100 items per month seems to be exactly that, 100 items listed 99p or less starting price. This includes relisted items, ended items, items which are purchased and then not paid for and relisted (something which happens a lot!). Ebay is doing it for their own monetry gain and nothing else. call my synical but they have never helped me when some idiot turns nasty or decides not to pay. Personally i would like ebay to do something positive for sellers (especially those that dont list tat). I am just someone decluttering and yes sometimes i do list more than 100 items a month and yes about 60-70% is stuff that is relisted not new items, they sell eventually but if i now have to pay i think i probably wont be selling large amounts of things on ebay unless they are higher value items, no point paying for listings that are only going to achieve 99p and then have a FVF taken off too, just hardly seems worth it. seems like 100 items is my max from now on!
the most amount of times so far i have relisted something before selling is approx 24 for a 5 day relist each time, then suddenly 3 people want the same item and it goes for nearly ten pounds!
ebay is a weird and wonderful place....0 -
You must have a huge house if you can list more than 100 items of clothing from your personal wardrobe every month.
Whilst ebay are probably doing this for their personal game, they are a business BTW not a recycling charity, I think they are also doing it to weed out the business sellers using private accounts.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. wonder what number they let you list before this:
Any private seller listing in high volumes will be reviewed by Customer Support , and potentially required to upgrade to business status or be blocked from listing on ebay.co.uk and ebay.ie.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
i didnt say i listed 100 items from my personal wardrobe???? i think if you read it i said that about 60-70% was relisted stuff, also i didnt say i did this every month! i dont remember saying they were a recycling charity either, any idiot knows they are a business but at the same time they need to encourage selling which is what their intention was when they began the free fee for 99p or less listing... as i stated they are obviously missing the revenue or they would not be reinstating something like this? maybe i do have a big house... maybe not... that wasnt the point of this discussion and i do feel sometimes that people on this site are knocked down for their opinions, it is after all just my opinion take it or leave it, just trying to add to the discussion thats all.0

I agree with the new regulations too. I am a private seller and the most number of items I have listed in one month is 35. Being a private seller I don't think I would have enough items, time (I work full time) plus patience to list more than 100 items each month! My daughters are my world0

It could reasonably be argued that they are costing themselves revenue from the sellers with 1000s of items a month listed as personal sellers who are selling a few hundred and paying final value fees and Paypal fees.
The free listings are for private 'hobby' sellers to get rid of the odd item they have. The change is as a result of people who are businesses taking advantage of this. As a business I list a few hundred items a month, I don't really see how a personal seller could list 100 items a month that all sold, it would be very time consuming to list, pack, post and carry on their non Ebay life, be they working or raising children or whatever.
If items don't all sell to relist (as the same listing without revision) more than a couple of times is hogging the site, even if they sell after the 5th attempt..0
