Advice please.

Hi all,

My mum booked to go to Spain for a wkk with my 6 yr old daughter.
It's self catering studio in aparthotel - minibus taxi to resort from airport.

I unexpectedly ( relationship broke!) have found myself wanting to now go with them.

Travel agent said it was not possible as a studio apt only for 2 people.
I contacted aparthotel directly - they said no room available.

Well, on my request, travel agent boooked me onto same flight as mum and daughter.

Now, what are the chances of me.

1. being unable to travel in minibus with them
2. being in big trouble for staying in their studio.

ps - i do understand about fire regulations etc, thats why I contacted them -but, i cannot understand the logic on not allowing me to stay in studio when there is clearly space for me.

Thanks in advance

Mo

    hi
Was it a package or did the agent "tailor make"?
Most Studios hold 2+1child or 3 adults and you normally pay per unit.If self catering.( however some do only allow 2 persons)
The Agent may have booked several people in same complex/resort,so they could use same minibus.
But if Mum has paid for "PRIVATE" transfer, then you should be able to get in the taxi at no extra charge.
    .
"Bunking In",you may get away with it,BUT you will probably get reported by housekeeping. And as you say ,it is against fire/ins regs as the hotel need to know how many guests and who.

If you can give some idea of hotel and the taxi/transfer co,it would help in giving you some better answers. As most of the travel bods on here will know the occupancy levels of the hotel.

When you spoke to the Aparthotel, they prob thought you wanted to do another booking.!!
Mind you,The Agent should be helping you out with this !!!!,
    Happy Hols(I Hope)!!
  • it's quite normal for the occupancy level to be 2 people in a studio
  • Hi,

I'm not too worried about transfer, apparently it's quite simple for me to get the train to Fuengirola from Malaga airport - or, I'll taxi it if it's a problem.
On the form it has 7 names for the minibus - so must be an arranged transfer.

    It's Veramer aparthotel in Fuengirola.
On form , it doesn't state how many people - just one studio and name it's booked under.

Kepp door locked when in room? So, no housekeeper walking in when I'm in the room?

They'll have CCTV and security guards, you just won't get away with it.

Again.....another moneysaver trying to 'bend' the rules. If the occupancy is two max then that's it! You'll have to try & get somewhere else to stay. I personally think you've been a bit foolish to book the flight with nowhere to stay. Would you 'bunk-in' to a Hotel room booked & payed for for 2 pax in the UK? I think not. If you are caught in the room they'll either a)-throw you out, b)-call police. Regulations are regulations-WHY do so many people on this board think they're above these rules & are always trying to 'bend the rules'/get something for nothing'??!

I think you should not worry too much!

If your prepared to get your own taxi transfer, then I dont think the studio will cause too much problem. Just bunk in and if you get found out which am sure they wont be too bothered about if your spending money in their bar/shop (if they have one), you can always find another hotel room for yourself as their is plenty around that area.

As you say lock the doors when your in, so the maids cant get in.

Hope you have a great holiday and I really wouldnt worry too much! :D

Niki-not true! What sort of holiday will it be-locking yourself away from maids! It's illegal if occupancy says 2-it's 2. If you're kicked out-just think how much an extra apartment/room will cost?

If a room is for 2 then it's for 2! At this property they do have cctv & security-you will be found out.

    Hi.
    Veramar Apartments
the veramar apartments are situated in good location in fuengirola, close to the beach and the sohail castle. there are plenty of shops, cafes, bars, pubs & restaurants in the immediate area with a wider variety available on the main seafront. the town centre is also within easy walking distance approximately 1km from the apartments. the veramar has been popular with british holidaymakers for years due to the friendly, welcoming atmosphere offered by the staff. studio apartments sleep upto 3 people and have a kitchenette, balcony/terrace, heating, telephone and satellite tv. there are also one bedroom family rooms available which sleep upto 4 people on a room only basis or half board basis. the family rooms do not have a kitchen, although they do have a fridge and microwave oven. overall, the veramar offers simple accommodation in a /...
I still would contact the agent,Alpha rooms sell studios for 2/3 but at differing prices, therefore charging per person.
The facilities in room are very basic, the hotel take the attitude that Self catering means eating out!!!.Very limited utensils and no kettle are some of the complaints.
    Happy Hols!!!

BTW The description does not mean that all studios sleep up to 3 people, some may be just up to 2 people.

Im not going to start arguing ,to busy, just having a break.
NO ONE HAS SAID THAT THEY ALLWAYS HOLD 3PAX.
I supply rooms in Mallorca,I visited 30+ hotels/apartments in June,ALL the Studios can hold up to 3 persons.
Usualy by means of 2 single beds and bedsofa or 2 sofa with pull out.
As Chris said it is the legalities of it,the OP should double check with the Agent. If it is a 2Pax studio ,then Op is breaking the law.BUT it may be possible to get the OP in,especially as the 3rd PAX is a 6 yearold!!
    NUFF SAID !!Back to work
    Laters and Happy Hols !!!
