use the bath water to water your garden
get a water butt and use watering cans instead of hoses
use the shower but as quick as possible
wash your own pots dont use a dishwasher
full loads on a shorter wash in your machine
use a glass of water to brush your teeth with
use your microwave to cook vegtables as only needs a little water(cling filmed lid)
need to have a lightbulb moment
  • In your home:

    • Fix all leaking taps and other leaks
    • Shower instead of bathing
    • Don' t run the tap while you brush your teeth
    • Use the half-flush on your toilet
    • Use cold water in your jug and pots. You waste water running the tap until hot water comes out
    • Don't wash your veges under a running tap
    • Dishwashers use up to 40 litres of water per load! Only wash full loads
    • Wash only full loads of washing.
    • Alter the washing machine to single rinse
    Outdoors:

    • Water the garden in the early morning and evening to avoid losing water by evaporation
    • Check the weather forecast before watering
    • Use mulch and compost to retain moisture
    • Sweep leaves and grass clippings away - don't hose them
    • Use a bucket rather than a hose when washing your car, boat or outdoor equipment
    • Collect rainwater for garden use

Get a thing (hippo?) to put in the cistern so the loo doesn't fill so much.
Use washing up water to water plants

Erm, a dishwasher used properly uses less water than washing up in a sink.

good dishwasher used properly uses less water and energy than by hand and is also significantly more hygienic to boot

Wash your dishes with you in the bath/shower ?

    A serious one:

If you have kids, fit taps with "lever" handles rather than normal "turn" ones - kids tend to turn these off more often.

Using a dishwasher tends to use less water than using a washing up bowl

Plumb your washing machine outlet into a water butt and use that water for the garden
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
