Text while abroad

Hi
I currently have an o2 contract that allows me to send and receive text while abroad and it just uses text from my free inclusive allowance.

It turns out that when you upgrade your phone or go onto a new contract that they have taken this service away. I work for an airline so these text have been invaluable to me and I was wondering if anybody knew of any other operators that offered something like this?

Thank you :)

Sorry Northernfly I don't know the answer to your question.

Just to confirm though that I have been told the same by O2. On new contracts texting whilst abroad is now chargeable, whereas previously it came out of the free texting allowance. It is in the small print of the Contract Terms and Conditions, which came into effect February this year. They have sneaked that one in quietly, as they did when they chopped the free 0845 calls.

I checked also whether this affected my existing Monthly Simm only account, as this is a rolling monthly contract, but was told that it did not and I could still send texts abroad using my free allowance.

The was a loophole with the tmobile flext package, where if you sent a mms text from aboard, this came out of your allowance dont know if it still works like that, maybe someone will come along & confirm.
ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.
  • Hey mchale

I checked with T Mobile and this has been removed so they are no longer an option. It looks like I will have to start saving for a new phone and keep my original contract when it comes up for renewal. On average I will be sending around 100 text a month from abroad so it has saved me a bundle so far!

I am hoping now to either find someone that charges around 15-20p per text (and free to receive them) with a low tariff in UK, or as I said before saving to upgrade my phone myself :o(
