Hi guys i would like to know if i can exit a contract with vodaphone early without big exit fees. My son got a free laptop with his mobile internet access. He now wants to cancel the contract after 9 months(contract is 18 months long) because the internet access is rubbish where he is based in the army down south. does anyone know anything about this and how to avoid the exit fee charges. kind regards, wendy

The laptop isn't really free it is paid for by artificially high monthly mobile broadband charges. There is not a cat in hell's chance that they'll let you cancel without penalty.0

In a word, no. You might manage it in the first month, but not 9 months in to the contract.
And with a laptop tie in (it's not 'free'), even less so, as after 9m the laptop cost alone will barely have been covered by the monthly payments.
The early termination charges will be the same as seeing the contract to term, so no point. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Hi Wendy,
The only thing I'd add here is to let you know that any cancellation fee we charge is VAT exempt and subject to a 25% reduction inline with Ofcom guidelines.
Many thanks,
