Currys are part of Dixons Group plc and (surprise, surprise!!) they show an 0870 number for their head office. Have not been able to find an alternative number, but you may have better luck, or maybe someone else knows one.

    Dixons Group plc
    Maylands Avenue
    Hemel Hempstead
    Herts HP2 7TG
    Tel: 0870 850 3333

The top man responsible for Currys is:

Nick Wilkinson was appointed Managing Director, UK & Ireland Electricals in April 2004. His previous roles include Director, Currys (2002 to 2004), Group Purchasing Director (2000 to 2002) and Managing Director, The Link (1999 to 2000).

    Good luck!

  • Went to Comet (Dixons group) to buy a video on bank holiday monday.Sat in traffic for an hour - none in - but expecting a delivery on Thursday. They said they'd put one by and call me to confirm, so she wrote out a ticket to put on the video. I asked for a reservation reciept but she sadi unless we paid a deposit I get no paperwork at all. Thursday comes and goes - No phonecall.
Called Friday to be cut off, put on hold, called Mrs Monsell and then finally through to someone. I explained the situ and the woman said they don't reserve anything without a deposit. I explained that because of my past experience I pay when I see. It wasn't a special order but stock so what did it matter anyway.
She said there was a delay in unpacking the delivery and they may not have any anyway - I asked why wasn't I told that before and why wasn't I called? All I wanted was to be kept informed.
She came back and said no video was reserved for me and when I explained thet girl wrote my name on a 'sold' ticket the woman went mad and again launched into how the girl shouldn't have done that blah blah blah..
5mins later she returned to say it WAS out there so I said we would be up to collect it on either saturday or sunday. She said ask for jenny. Jenny wasn'y there on sunday!

I told the girl (very young, tons of make-up and more interested in her hair!) that we had come to pay for and collect a video. She looked at us and said in a rather curt voice 'can't collect without a reciept'. I told her we wasn't given one as we hadn't paid for it. She still siad we couldn't pick it up without a reciept. I told her what we had done the bank holiday monday and what we had been told but she still insisted that she couldn't let anything go without some sort of paperwork. Really beginning to lose my patience I then said, in a louder and more assertive way, that we hadn't paid for it and because of that we didn't recieve any paperwork, we wanted to pay for it upon collection - which part did she not understand?

The penny dropped and she got the video - no apology.

As we are staying with relatives, there are a mix of names in the house. So, 3 weeks later we had a letter from the TV licencing people! We then had to hassle my aunt for the details and when I realised it was Comet who gave them out (which I have never had before - but apparently is routine) I phoned Comet and went bonkers down the phone asking who else they had given my personal details to?!?

Ther manager explained that it was in fact routine but I informed him that it doesn't warn customers anywhere and that nothing was said at the till. I truly believe that you should be informed of your personal details going to anyone else - in fact it's your right to.
I also relayed my experience and he apologised. He asked ME how he could fix it so I said that I would leave it up to him to sort that out. I didn't phone for a bonus but something would have been nice for the inconvenience!
He said he would also check to see if they should let customers know that their details are going to a third party. It caused a lot of hassle for me (although we do have a TV licence, had the TV licencing people bothered to look up the address they would have seen that we had one so a call to them is due!).

I was promised a phonecall back and told him the times I was and wasn't available. He phoned once, no message left, when I told him I WOULDN'T be available!

VERY bad service and staff that don't seem to have a clue!

  • Sh*t, I didn't know that Comet are part of the Dixons group as well. I am going to have to make a written list of companies which I am boycotting.

The money which CURRYS took from my bank appears to have been replaced. My experience with CURRYS has therefore only cost me

    1. 12 days lost interest

    2. 3 phone calls to England

I didn't think Comet were part of the same group? i thought it was Dixons, PC World and Currys?

Edit: Just checked - Comet are NOT part of DSG (Dixons Store Group)
