lovely sunny day here, have finished sorting from DS1 campout/sleepover last night (the joys of becoming 15), and the menfolk have now gone off to the footy match, this is crucial as if Grimsby Town lose today they are relegated from out of the football league.
So I have a few hours to myself, will finish off on here then may sit outside with a book for a while. My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
Hi everyone, beautiful day here too. Have finally gone for it and cut the tops off the bananas to give them a chance to get going. Within the hour the leaf shoots have grown about three inches, they're amazing. Getting going on the dig in seeds now although am still holding off a bit for the beans. DH having a lovely time constructing the dog toilet and run lol, never thought I would see the day. Peppers and aubergines sown as well. New lavender plants going in tomorrow as I do like cooking with the heads in cake and bread, all come from cuttings from my favourite bush last year. Have a great weekend everyone.0

Erme, Glad your half 'n' half bread came out OK (I was the one who mentioned it). Hopefully your seedy experiment went OK - I love adding sunflower seeds to mine.
Have been away for a week, and actually BOUGHT a loaf of bread (first time this year!) Took a hm loaf with us for starters, and did consider taking the breadmaker in the car to the self-catering cottage, but concluded that even I can't be THAT extreme - told myself I deserve a holiday!
When I finish on here, the machine will go on!Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -
OH took Fishfinger to the shop with him this morning so I had a really luxurious lie in till 11am, then I tidied the house and went to pick her up at lunchtime. Have had a spend day though so its not all good, a friends little girl is 4 next week so I picked up a little fairy doll for £3 and found a copy of UK on a g-string which I have wanted to read for ages and only 50p it looks brand new, not even a bend on its spine I'm so impressed.
My knitting yesterday turned into the start of an xmas decoration lol, I'm knitting a paper chain out of all the odd ments of yarn I have. I'll post a pic up when I have done some.

Evening all........ what wonderful weather. Allotment work on hold til tomorrow as I bought a walk in greenhouse from the local car boot sale today (£10) so erected that and moved seeds in. Then everything else in the garden looked as if it needed TLC, so it was snipping and weeding and watering. Backache No1. The car boot sale also brought me 2 Next T shirts for oldest DGS (9) for 20p each, some pea netting and some lovely glass domes which I intend to use as "bringers on " for seeds, but they dont have holes in the top, will they be OK do you think??? Saturday isnt usually a NSD for this reason! As someone else said, I never buy rubbish. There is just no need, the stalls are prolific, and if you cant find what you want on 1, the next probably has it! You meet some lovely people and its recycling after all. Hope weather brings smiles to those who have reason to be a little down at the mo. God Bless.0

Good to see you Lynz and thanks for the hugs! Wondered where you were and was hoping you’re ok. Sounds like you have been having a tough time – big hugs to you and I have my fingers crossed for you. I know you can’t say much right now but your health has to come first. Never mind if things haven’t gone as planned – things have a funny way of working out for the best.
Oh thank you, honestly today really hasn't been good at all but your post made me smile a lot it is so nice to know im being thought of even if it is just fleeting. I think of you too- weird really- if I am feeling sad I am really hoping that you are not feeling sad at the same time as me. Suppose thats rather crackers but I guess it is just to say that even though you might feel alone, someone is thinking of you and sending you happy-dust even if you dont "know" them.
I think I missed it too Nuala, what course are you doing. If you are an MSN user feel free to add me if you want someone to chat to
Well the on-line classroom didn't go very well, the software crashed the computer big time - it took since 10.30 till now to get it going again- and it has a huge bug in it I cant now find to delete it, I didn't manage to do the classroom either. there is a part of me that thinks well, a distance learning masters where the software wrecks my PC and I cant use it for a day () doesn't really bode well so maybe its not the right thing, OH suggests I might be being a little defeatistIm hoping the PC is ok and wont need any cash spending on it. To be fair OH's parents own a computer co and OH built this so any bits and pieces we usually get "gratis" if we need anything to be fair we haven't needed anything for over 2 years.
And the concerts been cancelled for monday as the person who was going to go but couldn't now can, so I guess that is fine really - their prerogative
Oh is doing himself a favour and staying out of my way, the mood im in- its just not good lol. He is playing guitar downstairs which is really nice.
Im going to finally make myself useful now the PC is back up and running and work out how I can stretch one packet of puff pastry into a selection of items, some sort of lemon curd pastry to use up this lemon curd I made ( ??) , cheese and onion pasties and a mince/cornish style as we have a pack of mince out for burgers later and we wont miss the odd handful of mince or so. Im also going to make "pizza puff" type thing which I had the other day from a bakers and a good lunch item using up some ham and mushrooms. Maybe if we go out tomorrow ( Id like to) then we can take these as a picnic.
Love to all xx:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Lots of people are thinking of you lynzpower. Having a picnic in this really lovely weather is sure to pick you up, hope you have a lovely day; think happy thoughts :-) xx0

Hi everyone,
Lynz - Hope you feel better soon, am thinking of you
Fishcake - A knitted paper chain? What a great idea!
Have spent the day in the sun, potting on my strawberry/tomato seedlings that we bought. Also went to a jumble sale but did not buy anything - seemed like most of the clothes were dirty/stained/zips about to come out etc
Saw this article in this weeks paper, about a chap who lost his job, so he built a treehouse and foraged his way around the summer. Was quite interesting, think I will borrow the book from the library.
Have made vegetable lasagne for dinner, so will go and eat that nowWe must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Just finished a very indulgent evening meal of roast lamb (even at Whoopsie price a lamb shank joint doesn't stretch far enough to be on the menu more than a couple of times a year), and I really enjoyed it after the busy afternoon I've had
Started off by 'painting' 4 and a half pence panels down one side of the lawn (the half being one that is a half one to fit, not one I've only painted half of).
Then I flattened a corner of the garden (moved a load of soil I dumped there 7 years ago when digging out a section of the front garden back to the hole I've still got out front)
Then I emptied out my compost bin (the contents are looking something like rotted down compost for the first time ever - and I 'only' started it off 7.5 years ago), moved the bin to the corner I'd just flattened, and put the contents back in
Then I cleaned off my garden furniture, then pressure washed the next 5 fence panels that will need painting (up the other side of the lawn), then I ended up cleaning the path up that side of the house as well - but unfortunately started at the garden end, so was working in an uphill direction which wasn't the cleverest idea I had all dayLooks much better, but next time I have the washer out I'll have to give it a quick once over in the other direction
If it stays nice overnight / tomorrow morning, then my first job of the day is applying teak oil to my garden furniture. After that I'll decide whether I'm staying out working in the garden (though it won't be fence painting - that can wait until the next nice weekend), or if I'm coming back in to do some 'proper' decluttering.Cheryl0
