For you with a nice cuppa.
  • Hello all,
Another quiet day at home for me and fishfinger, shes suffering from the changing temps poor thing, with some more heat rash.
    Washing out on the line.
    put several items online
    online surveys done
made a spag bol from scratch, my first attempt... fingers crossed its ok.
    plants watered.

I starting to get itchy fingers now fishfinger is lasting longer between feeds so I need a craft project to do. Not sure what to do though. Need to get some of my knitting stash used so maybe some cleaning clothes to boost my stash. I could knit them in my sleep so interruption from the little lady shouldn't hurt lol.
Have a gorgous frugal day all.

    hey everyone!!

I havent posted for awhile as I havent had much to say, I do read though ... just plodding along nicely here although not done well on the food shopping as I went in Morrisons and spent another tenner on food (all wants really too... but they make life that bit easier/nicer, I honestly dont know how I could live on £10 worth of food a week and have some nice things included).

I received my dig-in seeds today so am really going to have to get a move on about planting ....... Need to sort a greenhouse thing and some soil as still not got round to buying it, Preston market are doing a deal on £14 for 3 bags of multipurpose or £18 on three bags of proffessional soil + they will deliver too.

I doubt I will plant all my seeds so the excess might have to go on ebay/freecycle as according to the packaging they dont save for next year ...

At the moment I have planted lettuce and the stuff for the guinea's ... each morning I put them outside and bring them in about 7pm. Would buying a plastic greenhouse thing mean I could put everything outside all the time?

Anyway, I hope everyone else is trundling along too.

Fishcake - I'm worried my guinea's are going to suffer with the heat too so I bought them a ice box insert thing which I am going to put in the freezer and then give them wraped up in a teatowel of somesort - hopefully they will be able to chill off with that.... not sure if something similar might help with little fishfinger.

    hi all

Just a quick one as I'm really not coping very well at the moment. Suffice to say there is a lot going on and my hand is part of it.
i cant really say anything but am trying to get my profile changed so I wil no longer be lynzpower as I just feel like I cant say anything on here as I know people from my work use this site from time to time. I haven't had any response to my PM to admins though and I'm getting desperate now.

Suffice to say, if what I think is in the offing - "offs" then there is no chance at all that the 12k saving target will be reached, and the whole she-bang will be "blown apart". I know that's cryptic, I can assure you it needs to be right now :(

Maybe Ill just try to focus on the positives:

    1) yesterday I managed my first ever NSD of the year ( i think) go me lol
    2) have barely eaten all week so spent no money really
    3) growing is doing really well, Im excited.
4)am going out on mond to a concert with my mate and I don't think I have to pay for the ticket
    5) went to use the P. expre55 voucher and not only that but OH found internet vouchers too so 2 pizzas and drinks came to a little over a tenner which was really nice to eat out for a change.
    6) found about 30p on the floor over the last few days. added this to the change is bagged up ready for OH to take to the bank. We dont use coin-star as of course that takes a proportion of your money and im too tight to pay a machine to count for me thanks. But natwest has one where you tip the coins in they auto credit to your account and doesn't charge you anything for the pleasure.
    7) have had about 350s worth of dollars in the house from last year that my colleague bought off me the other day so that cash will go back into savings, I actually managed to make about £3 on the exchange over all this time- better than a loss lol.
    8) I have a university "prep" thing today, which is online virtual classroom for my masters. I am almost certain now that I will do it, i think there is a way you can pay the fees off gradually.
    9) made more gloop yesterday, am v impressed with how long it lasts as well. this time with a coconut body shop soap lovely smell
    10) have got a loaf proving and some cookies to go in when OH washes the trays hes asleep at the mo and its just not something I can manage on my own at the mo.

Anyhow sending huge hugs to Nuala, SF and to anyone else that needs them.

    xx

    ((hugs)) for Lynz.

Sorry to hear things possibly aren't going too well at work/with your hand :(

But it sounds like you still have a lot of positives there, so as you say they're the things to focus on now :T

Lynz hugs to you I hope you can get it sorted.
I haven't posted much because I have been very busy sowing seeds and doing things with my family over the holidays. All back to normal next week though.
DH had some slightly worrying news yesterday. They are making three more redundant and they are on the shop floor this time. He will be ok for now but I am going to continue to prepare for the worst. My oldest DD has said he may be able to get a job at her place if the worst happens but it is a bit of a drive away. It would also be a bit weired because she is a manager there, not that it would bother him much.

Hi Guys..((Hugs)) to those in need & ((Hugs)) for those busy supporting the rest of us :o
I may be going to my first ever car boot sale this week-end; me muvva is after some single plants for her pots & the stores only sell in trays of 6 or more. If nothing else, it will be a new experience & I'm already considering leaving my money at home so I can't be tempted by other people's tat--I've more than enough of my own to get rid of first! I'm the one who always has things no-one else ever wants, so no point in me trying to sell :p

Best get a wriggle on & put the uniforms out on the line. Here's hoping the sun brings plenty to smile about this week-end.

So far this morning (aside from spending too long on my laptop) I've mown the back lawn and done 2 wash-loads which are now both out on the line - my first lot of outdoor drying for this year :T We've had a few days where I've considered chancing it, but I don't like leaving it out while I'm at work in case the weather turns - which it invariably does when I take the risk :o

Am now considering finding my 'decoarting clothes' so that I can get on with painting the fence panels. That would then be one more job out of the way so I can get the raised beds where they're supposed to be (and improve the state of the place if I decide to relocate next year)

I was planning to spend the weekend doing some serious internal decluttering, but my head is telling me to make the most of the weather, and I can always do internal stuff tomorrow in the knowledge I made good use of today anyway.

And if I've spent one day working outside and one inside, then I guess I'm all set for a guilt-free day of 'nothingness' with OH on Monday (as long as he's not had anything crop up while he's been away - should be getting a call sometime later today/early tomorrow to make plans) yes.gif

    Hello frunchkins

I hope you are all having a good weekend wherever you are.
NualaBuala Sorry you have had to take leave I understand how it is to be mature student and put yourself under pressure to succeed. I went to Uni when I was 50  and it was hard to cope with a family of 4 plus not so DH, somehow I muddled through and am sure it helped my chidren to be more independant, unfortunately or possibly fortunately my marriage did not survive but then it may not have done so anyway. Your enforced leave may help you considerably....depends on your attitude and it will be a good time to chill out and grow, grow grow, you as well as your seeds. so enjoy..
Thank you EFC, you're right - it is tough. And the last couple of years chucked a lot at me. I think I'm ok in lots of ways and I'm grateful for that at least. Your last line that I quoted is just beautiful! :) Am sending good thoughts your way for the op - hope you have a good weekend so you are ready for anything come Monday. How long will you be off your feet for? Hope you have someone who can lavish TLC on you.

Thanks Erme! I’ll look into that Starbucks card although I’m not planning to make a habit of it. I do like treats though! Glad your work thing is ok, haven’t heard of that one but environmentally-friendly sounds good. Your outing sounds lovely – I haven’t cycled in years. I don’t think my legs would know what had hit them!

Thanks SF, I’ve been struggling for a while and the decision was taken out of my hands as Dr wrote a letter to college and they don't want to go against her advice. Sounds like you had a great time in Kuwait – I’m glad you got a break, you deserve it! Just read your other post - hope you're ok and sending hugs your way. Am happy to help you eat Grandma247's cake if you need a hand! :rotfl:

Great advice on the kitcat Puddleglum! I did eat a bar of chocolate and it make me feel a lot better than the antidepressants do lol!

Thanks for the hugs BigMummaF. I am thinking of doing those dandelion frittersfrom the gardening programme too! I’m the same, usually watch and think I must try that, and then never get around to it. I just used the dandelion leaves so far but now the flowers are out I might give the fritters a go. Although I have a huge batch of veg biryani to get through so maybe not. I watch the Grow Your Own Drugs program too. And I had already planned to make my own sugar paste for leg-waxing – not infused with any flowers though. I made it straight after the programme and it worked! I didn’t use it with fabric strips, just used the paste (think they call it sugaring?) and although I did miss a few bits, it worked pretty well and was very cheap. I wish I had the courage to leave my legs hairy and not worry about how they look but at least now I have a cheap and green way of getting rid of my gorilla legs!

    Great tips lel3636!:T Welcome!

Thanks for your lovely post phoebe, hugs to you and hope you get your GAD under control. I have a great friend who suffers with anxiety and it’s horrible. I hope you too can be gentle with yourself and nurture your health. And now I will try to take my own advice!

Glad you’re enjoying your new TV pencekeeper! I’m thinking of getting rid of mine! I used to be a telly addict and while I’m definitely not any more I still think it might do me good to get rid of it.

Good to see you Lynz and thanks for the hugs! Wondered where you were and was hoping you’re ok. Sounds like you have been having a tough time – big hugs to you and I have my fingers crossed for you. I know you can’t say much right now but your health has to come first. Never mind if things haven’t gone as planned – things have a funny way of working out for the best.

Hope you are all having a nice sunny Saturday like we have here in Dublin. I am going to have a bit of lunch now and then either go for a walk in the park or do a bit in the garden. Hugs to everyone who'd like one. :)
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!
