Hiya! I'm around... mostly in greenfingers :) Obessing over my seedlings :rotfl:
  • Just a quick message to say thank you to all of you for your kind words. I'm not much of a poster but this board has been such a massive help to me.

I know that I'm depressed and I know why I'm depressed. It's the 'moving on' part that I'm struggling with. I'm going to get help with it because I know how silly it is for me to constantly go over the same regrets again and again....

I know that there's no quick fix and it'll probably be difficult for some time but reading all your posts really has given me a little bit of belief.

You guys are amazing. Thanks again.

It is that 'regret loop' we all go through at some time, we go back to that point that hurts then beat ourselves up over the event, whatever it may be then return to it again and again .. we all have or had them, it's part of life experiences. It's the breaking away from the loop and moving on that can prove difficult. Help is available for this either through Counselling, medication or plain and simple talking to a Friend you can trust etc. You can even post on here to us bunch of pirates lol as some of us have had experience with depression over financial problems, BR and the affect it has or had. Just don't feel that you're alone and it's you against the rest of the World with this.
  • i can totally sympathise with your feelings of fear and worry.. im in the same boat and am facing br too
i have suffered with depression and anxiety for many years now.. and believe me medication can make a huge difference, as can talking therapies.
i am overwhelmed by the support on here and feel i can maybe face up to my problems too.. if ever you feel low please go see a doctor, or even a local MIND group.. they offer amazing help and support too.
there is no stigma in mental illness any more, its no different from physical illness and has its roots in chemical imbalances in the brain so please do not fear speaking. the more you open up to people about mental health the more you will see that it is a LOT more common than you think.

Thanks to all who post here:beer:

Hi All - long time reader, first time poster...

I just want to add that you people are all soooo helpful and kind. I am currently trying to work out if BR is for me and it seems as though it may well be... :(

I'm absolutely petrified of what life will be like before, during and after and knowing that I'm not alone and all of you have been going through the same things really helps.

GFB - I think you have given me a snapshot into my future... I can feel the depression coming on just thinking about it, and historically I have also been one to never go to the Drs unless absolutely necessary.

I'm also in agreement with those who look at the lenders from a different aspect. I took on all the debt, I willingly spent money that I would have to re-pay and while my DH was in full-time well-paid employment this was not a problem. After his company made radical changes to his payment structure things started to unravel.

Also woth noting is that they lent willy-nilly to all and sundry and during the days when all was rosy, no-one thought anything was amiss. I'm wondering what the thought behind the idea that cheques will soon be withdrawn... Afterall, when you actually WRITE the figures "one hundred and twenty five pounds" which is your weekly shopping bill, it makes you realise what you are spending. So much easier to simply punch in that little four digit code at the checkout and conveniently go deaf when the cashier states the amount.

I'm quite happy to deal only in cash. Actually having to hand over physical money for purchases really makes one realise the VALUE of money.

As for my family, they are already living on stew and tins of beans so I'm hoping that BR will be a relief from the constant, nagging, debilitating worry that I have been feeling recently.

I thank you all once again for your kind words and GFB - let us know how you get on!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
One way to make BR easier on yourself.
Think to yourself the bankers do not think about you when they keep hiking the interest rates. The bosses do not care about you when they take there big bonuses. The bosses do not care about you when they take there golden handshakes when leaving the banks they worked for.

Now think of all the interest you have paid over the years and think of the debt you are leaving them with is less then the golden handshake they would have taken. After all you will be leaving the company.
