T Mobile collection dept getting heavy handed

Had a letter from T Mobile a copule of days ago to say I owed them £14. The account is for a phone I operated as my main mobile more than a year ago, but when I rung up to enquire about upgrades and told them I liked my phone and didn't want to change, I was told that instead I could have the service for £5 / month. I accepted this and have just kept the phone as an emergency 2nd as I bought an iPhone.
I paid the £14 today, thinking it was an oversight on my part, but when I got to work I had a phone call from T Mobile collections telling me they reckon I now owe £23.99. When I asked how that could be, they told me I hadn't paid enough to cover my monthly payments of £12.76 (I was only paying £5, as agreed). The woman then informed me that the £5 / month package was only for 18 months (wasn't told this at all originally on the phone), and that i'd have to pay as my credit limit could be affected etc, etc. I didn't have my cards with me, so I told her I'd pay the princely sum of £9.99 by BACS. She asked when that would be done, I told her 'today'. She said 'when today?', and I said 'as soon as i'd got access to the Intenet'. She even suggested I use someone else's debit card to pay the bill over the phone!
It should have been easy to see from looking at the account what had happened. I'd paid £5 just like i'd done for the previous 18+ months, they'd put the price up and it left a shortfall. I admit i'd just thrown my statements in the draw for the last 18 months because I knew I was pushing the money to them every month, and it was only a fiver. She turned all Nazi about it.
I told her not to worry about missing next month's payment as i'd be cancelling the account ASAP. So, instead of getting £60 per year off me, they're now getting !!!!!! all.
