Catalogue keep sending 'Notice of Default'

Options
Hi

I am in dispute with a well known catalogue, over charges added to my account. I have emailed, sent letters to H/O etc, but they are insisting all charges stand.

Now they keep sending me 'Notice of Default Sums under the Consumer Credit Act 1974'

What do they mean?

Looks like they are still of the opinion that you owe them money.

This statement should show exactly what they think you owe them.

They are required by law to issue this statement before proceeding further with their claim.

I am also disputing charges on my catalogue account. I would suggest that you should pay them something to stop them placing a default on your credit file because then it will effect any future borrowing and it would take 6 years to remove. Me and OH have decided to continue payments because even if the balance is cleared, we can still continue to recclaim the charges. It's the same as reclaiming credit card charges even if the card has been cleared.

With that said, there is a catalogue thread in the reclaim forum that might help. This one is about Littlewoods which is managed by Shop Direct. There are many different catalogues run by Shop Direct so yours might also be one.
