HFC/Currys PPI help

Hi,
I've been reading posts on MSE for a while now and have gained a lot of useful advice so thank you for that.
I have a query regarding a letter I sent to HFC bank claiming back missold PPI.
In 2007, my partner purchased a TV from Currys and he took out finance through them, the finance company being HFC. Last year, he recieved a statement showing that he had been paying £6 per month PPI that he didn't even know he had. He called HFC and asked them why this was on his account and they said the box requesting PPI was ticked so he must have agreed to this.
I send a letter on 22nd March asking for the money back (I used the template from this site). My partner has received a letter from Currys today asking for the following:
1. A copy of the finance agreement entered into with the Finance Company concerned.
2. A copy of the purchase receipt.
3. Written authorisation to allow us, DSG Retail Ltd to discuss this issue with the PPI provider.
4. Details of when first payment was taken.
5. How much is the premium per month and how much has been paid to date.
6. Have any claims been made of the agreement.
7. Full details of your claim as to why you feel you were incorrectly advised, along with full details of anyone you contacted to discuss this issue.
I'm not really sure how to proceed...are we obliged to provide them with this information? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome.
It was more than likely an automated tick by them!!!
If this was in 2007, they SHOULD still hold the details.
As they should hold them for at least 6 years.
I would be inclined to write back and tell them that.
However if your partner does not have the agreement, he can request for this by enclosing a £1 cheque or postal order, and they must supply by 12 days, but they should already hold them.
Infact everything they are asking they should have on data, I would personally write back and tell them this and ask them to continue to investigate on this one, they have 8 weeks in full to get back with a decision on this, if they do not resolve in your partners favour then move on to the FOS.
You could also mention you will contact the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) for advice on this if any problems in relation to your partners data.

Hi,
My wife also complained to HFC regarding ppi which was added without her knowledge, she had the same letter from curries as yourselves and sent all the paperwork as requested and as since received a rebate of £430.00. They stated that they did not agree but as a gesture of goodwill they would reimburse her with FOS redress remedy.0 -
