Cooling off period help?

Hi,

This is my situation mt contract has run out with o2, so I started to look around to see whats on offer, we have a joint package paying £30 a month for 250mins and 50 texts then I pay £3.99 for extra 100 texts.

My husband works away 4/5nights a week and stays at his nans so I thought if we went over to orange we could use the free braodband there and he will not be so bored. So I look at the orange packages not bad, price comparsion is £30 for 300mins 100 texts plus free broadband on top of that an extra 150 evening and weekend calls per month and cos its their current deal you get 1000texts and 200mins extra for life of contract. So I looked o2 other packages nothing to compare. So I start the process on line to change to orange, a bit drawn out as they needed faxed copies of proof of address, so finally 2weeks later all sorted phones on their way, but I did find out the free broadband can only be used at billing address, bummer but still the monthly costs still cheaper than o2. So I call 02 today to cancel and get PAK codes, but they then offered me the following deal: £20 inc vat 500mins 500texts for a 12 month contract plus upgrade in 11months, one of the phones we wanted was a bit more expensive with them but they were willing to throw in a free handsfree kit, great so now my monthly bill could be £31 cheaper a month ok I lose the extra 500 texts but hey who can type that much in a month and actually have life. I lose the broadband but like I said no use now anyway.

So yey great the nice lady tells me I have a 14day cooling off period with orange and can just return the phones when they arrive and call orange I've changed my mind.

I have searched the terms and condtions online and I cannot find anywherer about the 14day cooling off period.

Can anyone help?

I dont want 2 contracts!

    Long story lol.

With any upgrade over the phone, in store or online you can return the items within the first 14 days with no problems.

If you have used the phones and made some calls/texts out of your free allowance then you will be charged for those and line rental from when you bought them to when you take them back.

As you ordered online you should either e-mail them or give them a call and say you want to return the phones as you are entitled to, they will then send someone to collect them or ask you to send them back and then they should refund your postage costs.

Once they have them back and everything is as it should be they will terminate the contract, charge and costs outstanding (line rental/calls/texts) and thats your relationship with Orange finished.

    Good luck.

I used to work for a service provider that supplied a mobile service and broadband. There was a 14 day cooling off period but no cooling off period for Broadband.

However, the reason there was no cooling off period for broadband was because it cost the company money to provision the line to use broadband. Cancelling the service may depend on how far they got setting up the broadband. Was there a 12 month contract with the broadband as well as the phones?

My hubbie agreed to a contract today when onestop rang him up as his contract is soon to end. He agreed to a new LG chocolate phone and a new contract with Orange for 18months and cashback deal. On reflection he wonders if he made the right decision especially when he hasnt even sent his cancellation notice to 3 and still has to give them 30 days notice. Can he cancel? or is it a legally binding contract? any ideas would be appreciated.
