savings help

Options
Ive got about £2000 sat around and id like to put some away in a savings account of some sort but im not sure whats the best options, i was thinking of putting £1000 in a cash ISA and £1000 in a fixed term bond for 1-2 years as i dont need to get at it and you can get more interest in a fixed term cant you? id rather it be a highstreet bank/building society as i dont want to have to faf around with online or post accounts. ive seen a Santander Flexible ISA which is 3.50% which has close now i think, but im not sure about the bond ones or would it get more interest just putting the lot in the isa?

any help plz

you need to be quick if you want an ISA for this tax year....

Barclays do a golden ISA 3.01%, go into branch TODAY
  • can i still open one after the 5th april though?

Yeah but 2000 will count towards next years allowance, which only really matters if you plan to deposit the full 5100 in 2010/11

Yes you can get more for fixing for a term - I actually find most on line accounts are far easier to set up than go into branch. Typically you can get 2.8% for instant acsess (the AA), 3-3.3% to fix for a year and up to 4.1% if you fix for 2 years the last time I checked.
