any clues as to the I/O available on your monitor.... if its vaguely up to date HDMI from the PS3 into an HDMI socket on your monitor would be the way to go0

In theory HDMI to DVI should work ok.... however again providing minimal information leaves you open to things going wrong -in the old days it wasn;t unusual to come accross monitors with DVI-A sockets which handeled the analogue component only and were strictly non-digital capable if this "one of them expensive dell ones" has anything on the back that might help you identify it better (ie a model number) soemone would probably be able to look up its specs for you0 -

Its not something ive ever tried. It 'might' work, but your never going to get sound out of it that way. The only way I can think of getting sound is plug the red and white PS3 lead (phono plugs) into an adaptor to be able to plug into your monitor:idea:0 -
ok yes that is DVI-D so should work, you need a cable just like the one you've linked to for the video feed (should cost £2-£3 online depending on length you want)
audio you'd need to feed separately under that setup? are there any other audio outputs on the PS3 you could use (3.5mm headphone type socket? Optical digital out?) you might need separate speakers to get sound....0 -
yeh i was thinkin about that im nt sure if ps3 have headphone type sockets if they do ill jus connect my pc speakers in that way

PS3s dont have headphone sockets, thats why I said youll need an adaptor from the red and white phone leads:idea:0
