I've just been sent a Financial Questionnaire to fill in now..

I was just wondering if anyone can confirm (cause i'm rather slow when it comes to this kinda stuff), are jsa and housing benefit classed as state benefits?

I had to do one of these too. Purely because I'd recently remortgaged.

I was declared bankrupt ages ago (about 4 years) so I'm guessing its because of that.

Just annoying as most of the questions apply to my partner only but never mind. Just not sure if jsa/housing benefits are classed as state benefits lol
  • Ah I see. Reason is they need to be sure that you're not an easy target for someone to blackmail you financially to get restricted information.

Yes, they are both State Benefits. SC usually takes about 12 weeks. Just make sure you disclose absolutely everything about yourself and your family, the whole point of Security Clearance is to get honest trustworthy people.

    Indeed!

There is an awful lot that you might think would be a problem in a check that actually isn't, as long as you are honest and just tell them.

Just thought I'd do a quick update on this.

Last Friday I was told that my security clearance had finally all gone through and that someone would call before the end of the day with a start date.

When I finally got the call, I was told that someone had over looked something and in their words "it now has to go before the financial department of the business unit for final approval to recruit"

Would I be right in thinking that it sounds like the post has been put on hold, maybe a recruitment freeze? I've been trying to get an update of what’s happening now but don't seem to be getting anywhere.

Just getting a bit worried that its never going to happen and I've already turned down 2 jobs while waiting for this to all clear

In your position, I would have taken 1 of them. ANd when the security clearance came through, I would be making the MOD wait my notice out. It is not as if they would get someone in before you had worked your notice out.

yes thats right, they cannot offer you the position officially until you have been fully cleared so at the moment they'll have to look at the financial questionnaire.

Each time your questionnaires get sent back it can take a while depending on the amount of questionnaires they have at that time so expect to be waiting a little longer I'm afraid.
    All the best
