  • For about the last 6-9 months Virgin Media use Kaspersky for their

internet security and obviously its free.....so i think the above answerers

maybe stopped using it before the changeover and hence their judgement

maybe clouded..whether your a Kaspersky fan or not you have to say its one

of the best there is and is certainly worth road testing it to see if you like it.

They use the kaspersky scanning engine. They dont use the actual database and they dont use the firewall

And this thread was best part of 6 months old anyway.

If you try hard enough you might find some ZX81 threads where you can suggest they have been superceded.

And another person talking about something that was never mentioned.:wall:

:think:Actually it sounds like you don't have a clue but don't let that stop you by any means.

It sounds like you have a browser insecurity on your mac and are too stupid to install security updates. And on a Mac if you're getting "hacked the hell out of" like you seem to be doing you're doing something wrong. For you I'd suggest the cure might be leaving the internet alone, you don't seem to be very good at it.;)

I'll ignore the fact that you slightly changed the subject as being jailbroken is vastly different from being infected by viruses.

Nothing to date seems to be completely secure is true, however some things are easier than others. Windows is easy requiring nothing more than a script kiddie whereas what you're talking about takes time and intimate knowledge.

This argument doesn't work. Linux has about 90% of the server market, why? Because its more secure and stable.

Its easier to write malware for and to get it to run on windows its that simple. And this is directly related to the way windows is run by default. Its market share of the desktop market just makes it profitable because its so easy and so wide spread. If windows didn't have the market share it would still be an insecure os but no one would bother about it.

What are you talking about? Are you 12? By definition the only troll here is you: Silly Jay.

Agree with all but the market share thing, Linux may have 90% share in the webserver market but not in general. All those businesses running Windows clients mostly connect to a Windows based infrastructure. Nearly every employer will ask for Windows Server experience and really not so much linux though this depends a little on your IT field. Then theres corporate email, again Microsoft.

Apart from that, kudos to you, I know your motives, to set the record straight. Couldn't have people who read this thread thinking that these two know what they are talking about lol. Probably just technology kids without the knowledge or experience.

My thoughts are that both OSs (Linux and MS) have benefits to be had and that they should peacefully co-exist.

Not sure why my old thread was revived, but some good posts.

I stuck with free versions of avast, and online armour, as am always wary of suites. I was tempted by Kapersky, but is not quite the same product being offered. Am happy with avast.

    Good to reminisce.

An update, my girlfriend no longer uses VM security, Avast, windows firewall and mbam/sas does her fine. Trying to convince her linux is the way to go now as shes still on vista.
