ESURE Cancelled my policy after claim

Keeno65, I understand what you went through. Esure have just done the same to me. They seem to have a 'How dare you make a claim' attitude.
They then try to find something on you and simply void your insurance. In my case I was underinsured for my contents at £15K and the claim was only for £900 diamond missing from my wifes wedding ring after accidental damage.
After the loss adjuster had been from Cunningham Lindsay she told us that by looking around we were underinsured for our contents. I went through the process after she 'educated' me on how you should insure your home. I jumped through all their hoops, raised my assessment and was willing to pay the extra and the next thing voided insurance.
They could have thrown out the claim, wrote to me to say they were increasing my premiums but instead treated me like a fraudster.
My advice is to avoid Esure like the plague as probably 95% of the country is underinsured as unless you work in the insurance industry you don't know how to insure your houise properly.
Anyway I'm going to tie these people up in paperwork for months so it costs them thousands in wages to respond. I'm going to keep on until they turn the decision around. I'm in no rush which is common in the insurance game.0 -
Had a burst pipe over Christmas and will be out for 6 months. Won't bore you with the details.
But need help in how to deal with Cunningham Lindsay - loss adjuster came round and said I was under insured for contents - I have £25K cover. I told him the contents of the house didn't amount to more than £20K at the most and not everything is damaged. Don't know what my total contents claim will be.
Reading other posts I need to know how best to handle this as I don't want them to try and void my claim by saying I'm under insured.
Having quite a traumatic time as there's just me & my 4 year old and we're in temporary accommodation which insurance company want us out of as very expensive and into a 6mth let but can't find anything for us. Also Munters (restoration company) still haven't put heaters in or removed damaged furniture and place is very damp which means more stuff will be ruined.

The 'you are underinsured so your policy is void' scam is increasingly common.
They are "appointed on your behalf" by the insurance company. You are within your rights to fire them and to appoint someone of whom you approve (check with the insurance company, their fees should be covered by your policy).
If the insurers insist on Cunningham Lindsey, that may tell you something."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -

How would I go about finding someone I approve of? Aren't they all the same? I mean at the end of the day aren't they're working for the insurance company and want the best deal for them not me.0 -
You employ them/pay them so they are not working for the Ins. Co. Try google?0

You need someone appointed by you, and to whom you spell out the priorities. You can even ask them if they do work for insurance company X, and if so how much. Again, check that their fees are covered by your policy.
If the insurance company doesn't agree with your assessors results, it is then up to them to appoint one of their own."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -

Thanks
Looked at my policy booklet and can't find any mention of loss assessor fees in it.
Will call a couple that I found on the web on Monday and will also call the insurance company again to say not happy with lack of any progress from Munters & Cunningham Lindsay.0 -
Filled in a couple of online forms and loss assessor from Morgan Clark has just phoned me and is coming out tomorrow to review the situation and advise what they can do.
Fees are 8.5% of total claim (buildings & contents) but sounded like I could negotiate this down a bit.
Any one had any experience with Morgan Clark?0 -
How much do you expect your claim to be ?0

if you under insure your contents by 5k then surely they would only pay to the amount you`ve insured !Arf :think:0
