ESURE Cancelled my policy after claim

Hi,
2 weeks ago I had my iPhone stolen from the changing rooms while I was playing football in Holland. A lot of other peoples things were stolen as well including some guys car keys and his car from the car park!
Anyway I was covered by esure for personal belongings away from home, I put a claim in and they paid out minus the £100 excess, I will add with no fuss at all.
I then got a letter from them saying that under clause such and such they are giving me 7 days notice and cancelling my home & buldings insurance.
I was very annoyed about this as I have been with esure for both car insurance and home & buildings for around 10 years.
When I called I was told it was because I had made too many claims and they now thought I was too high a risk.
Now, I have never made a claim on my car insurance and 2 previous claims, one on contents for my wife losing her eternity ring valued around £1800 about 6 years ago and another on buildings about 3 years ago after an attempted break in where the my patio doors stood up to a crowbar and severe pounding (we were in bed at the time and thought we were having an earthquake!) and claimed just for the damage to the door which came to around £250. I won't go into the arrogant attitude of the person who took my call regarding this cancellation as I have rambled too much already.
I would just like some of your opinions on this as I don't think these claims are excessive considering the inflated claims that a lot of people put in.
I haven't looked for more insurance yet but no doubt it is now going to cost me a fortune as I have to declare these previous claims, I would like to cancel my car insurance with them but unfortunately I can never find anybody else cheaper!

Wow, that sure helps the OP. If Asia's post wasn't true they haven't done anything wrong but if they are telling the truth they are trying to help. Get a grip.
My suggestion was going to be to contact someone higher up in esure but looks like you might have a path to that already.0 -

It would be ridiculous if this helpful response was removed.0 -
Hi there. I have already been in contact with MSE to obtain permission to post on behalf of esure - am just waiting for this to be approved. In the meantime, I just wanted to get in touch to help with the OP. Thanks, Asia.
Asia - you can send a private message to keeno65. That way, you won't incur withabix's pettiness.0 -
Thanks Asia, I have your PM, I will send you the info you require.
To the rest of you I will let you know the outcome.
Incidentally the arrogant person I spoke to, I told him I was going to put this on MSE, Guess what?..... he wasn't bothered.0 -
Best of luck.0

Hi,
We have received this response from esure:
"Hi
I work in the esure press office and would like to help you resolve this problem. Please kindly email me at customer.relations@esure.com and in the subject box write "moneysavingexpert"."0 -
Just to keep you updated, all I have up to now is a letter from esure saying that my complaint is being looked into.
Unfortunately I still have no buildings (hope my mortgage company is not reading this!) or contents insurance (hope no burglars are reading this!)0 -
I have just had a response from esure.
I will let you know the outcome later.0 -
Keeno65, I understand what you went through. Esure have just done the same to me. They seem to have a 'How dare you make a claim' attitude.
They then try to find something on you and simply void your insurance. In my case I was underinsured for my contents at £15K and the claim was only for £900 diamond missing from my wifes wedding ring after accidental damage.
After the loss adjuster had been from Cunningham Lindsay she told us that by looking around we were underinsured for our contents. I went through the process after she 'educated' me on how you should insure your home. I jumped through all their hoops, raised my assessment and was willing to pay the extra and the next thing voided insurance.
They could have thrown out the claim, wrote to me to say they were increasing my premiums but instead treated me like a fraudster.
My advice is to avoid Esure like the plague as probably 95% of the country is underinsured as unless you work in the insurance industry you don't know how to insure your houise properly.
Anyway I'm going to tie these people up in paperwork for months so it costs them thousands in wages to respond. I'm going to keep on until they turn the decision around. I'm in no rush which is common in the insurance game.0
