Hi all

well the crappy N97 i have is now frozen completly. it has been getting progressivly worse of the last few weeks and now all i can do is turn it on. none of the touch screen options work and i cant call or text. For months now i have been trying to figure out how to do a software upgrade only to find out vodafone wont authorise the new nokia updates.

sooooooooo

i now have a phone and a tarrif i cant do nothing with. i dont have my own pc so i cant do an update that way(im on a work pc as i type this)

so if i ring vodafone what should i be entitled to if anything, ideally i want rid of this rubbish phone. im on an 18 month contract with them and im about a year into it.

any tips, can i ask for a different phone and remain on the tarrif, can i tell them to stuff it all

:mad::mad::mad::mad:

    Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
    Dial *#0000# goto Options, then Check For Update

    Failing that, it's faulty so get it repaired either by Voda or by a Nokia Care Point

    You can, the early termination fee's will be Months Left x your Month rental.

    Your airtime contract is not related to the performance of the phone so you can't use that to cancel the contract. Vodafone are supplying you with the ability to make calls, it's your phone letting you down if you put the sim in another phone it would work fine.

    You Say you've just sent it to Vodafone, why didn't you do this before? If you had a set of case references for a fault you may get a goodwill replacment, if it's the first time you have sent it for repair you'll get nothing. Even if you had these it';s still a goodwill issue, you can't legally demand a new handset, just that it's looked at. The vendor is the one who decides to repair or replace it not the buyer.

    Hindsights a wonderful thing but you should have got Voda to look at it first when you stareted to have problems before trying to update it youself, again as that way the problems on file.

    Good Luck with the repair.

    ok this saga is still going on, after various repairs and !!!! ups by vodafone i have now requested a different phone and they have come back with this reply. it is edited for privacy reasons. does any think i can push for more as the phones they have offered are rubbish compared to the standard the N97 should be. also if i take up the option then its another 3 months on my contract.

    anyways comments and thought welcome

    - Samsung S5600v Black Blade (Actual Cost £180.00 - 50% = £90.00)

    My n97 had this, its a generic software fault, they replace the whole screen with a new one and reloaded software which fixed some, but not other issues. Im getting a htc desire as a replacement which cant come soon enough as the unlock switch literally just fell off! cn lock my phone or i wont be able to unlock it!:eek:
    Back by no demand whatsoever.
