When the toothpaste tube is almost empty I cut it in two to get all the stuff out, my OH keeps laughing at me, but I can't bear the waste! Sometimes there's enough for 2-3 times to brush teeth with.
I use my Clipper green tea bags twice most of the time. After the first use I keep the bag in the little ramekin, then use it later in the day. It's good either to drink, or to wash your face with as green tea is good for skin, leaves it glowing.
I use supermarket plastic bags as bin liners.
If you feel my post has been useful, " merci" would not go amiss.

  • Wow! So many fantastic ideas!

I already do most of the ideas that people have mentioned, I guess I'm not the only one!

A couple of tips that I do (I'm not sure if they have been mentioned or not yet):
    - Use a tiny amount of washing up liquid, and when the bubbles have gone, whisk the water to get the bubbles back.
-After I have used a wet wipe I keep it, dry it out on a radiator so the room smells lovely, then use it as a tissue.
    - At work we have free fruit, but when the bananas (or other fruit) are a little too ripe and nobody eats them I take them home and bake a cake, and take it back to work! (this evening I made a banoffee pie!)

Keep up the good work guys! I have learnt so much from reading this thread :T

This is not strictly OS but it occured to me that I dress with my wash load in mind

So, one week I wear mainly black tops & knickers & etc. the next I wear mainly white...this week has been a red week for me which is why I think I noticed.

I think it stems from when I first left home and my favourite red top always seemed to be lurking in the bottom of the wash basket on it's own - it would never have occurred to me to handwash it back then :)

I do this with work clothes! haha

Nice to see this thread resurrected..again! It seems to have 9 lives doesn't it? I suppose that there's always something new to learn from each other.
I'm into gardening more now since we moved house. I am (sadly!) thrilled to bits to be using the cardboard packaging from my new kitchen in my fledgling compost heap! The neighbours must wonder what I'm doing with all of those cartons when I disappear behind the shed with them...:rotfl:
(They're also good for insulation on the cold, concrete garage floor)
I'm sure that I'll find some uses for the polystyrene as insulation too. When I think how I would have just thrown it all into the bin at one time!:o
The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

I put it under the kitchen cupboards behind the baseboards :D

One day I plan to save up loads and take the bath panel off and put them under the bath to keep the water hotter for longer :rotfl:
  • ... we are allergic to deodorant but found the rock salt didn't irritate. We prefer the spray rock type but they are pricey. I noticed you can now buy a spray bottle with bits of rock in the bottom and it says you can top up with water to reuse....

... I put the rock in a jar of water and put it in a spray bottle. It lasts forever as the solution comes out very strong so it can be watered down further. It takes a while to disolve but you can start using it quite soon and the rock just slowly disolves over the weeks till you have the concentrated one.

Thanks so much for all the fab tips. I do nearly all of them, and with no embarrassment whatsoever!
It's good to know that there are so many like-minded people out there; just when I think I am the most frugal person around I read something on this site which makes me feel like a mere beginner - keep up the good work!!
