Hi everyone, been reading all the tips on this board and I am now a stardrops convert(its changed my life!!) and starclens. Also using vinegar for cleaning and as a fabric conditioner and for cleaning the dishwasher.
Can anyone tell me the cheapest and or best place to buy it?
Does it always have to be white vinegar?
Got my last bottle from waitrose...not really the cheapest place in the world!
Thanks
Fluffy

I use Sainsburys basic. I think its white vinegar with colouring to make it look like malt vinegar. It's 17p a bottle. I've been using it for months now without a problem. Even the family don't notice it unless they see me use it.0

I bought a 5 litre container of sarson's white vinegar for £4.50 at a local thai supermarket after seeing it spoken about by many users of this board. I figure it will last me a very long time and the container will eventually be turned into a cloche, hence more money saving.0

I got my 5 litre tub of vinegar from Makro.0

The local Chinese takeaway sold me 5L for £4.
I recently haggled down the cost of some bicarb in weigh n save - I bought 3 kilos and he gave me 25% discount - that also cost about £4
Is this good?0 -
My local asda sells 500mil bottles for 17 pence too.
That'd be 34 pence per litre. Not bad
It's brown, not clear/white, but I've had no problems with it at all.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I became friendly with a shop keeper who then got it from the whole saler for £4 for 5 L0

I use Lidl for brown malt vinegar, can't remember how much it is though
& a Chinese supermarket for distilled (white) malt vinegar £2.20 for 5 litres
you might be able to find non-brewed condiment 'vinegar' (diluted acetic acid) cheaper, although I've seen it at silly (expensive) prices in some major supermarkets
the same Chinese supermarket has 5 lt of 1:20 acetic acid for £7.70, which when diluted would work out at less than 8p a litre
but 100 litres is a lot of 'vinegar' to get through & you'd have to be careful about keeping the undiluted acid safely out of the way so no-one would use it neat by mistake0 -
Hi I bought some white vinegar in france to clean my place but now its gone could anyone recommend any and tell me where they get it from.

They sell it in Tesco with the malt vinegar. but if you've got a B&M or Home Bargains near you, they're quite a bit cheaper0

Wing Yip is where I get my mum to get it for me;) I think there are branches in Manchester and London, Brum is where my mum goes. It comes in 5 litre containers, I'm not sure how much it costs but it's definitely cheap.
Other Chinese supermarkets carry it I think. I also get large buckets of bicarb from there.0
