I agree that there seems to be a shortage of 5 litres of white vinegar. I got my last one from Makro but they don't have it any longer. It is fantastic, I use it for all sorts of things. In Tesco they only have small bottles so I bought a bottle of the Value brown vinegar just so I have some but I would prefer the white stuff. I have looked in Home Bargains and so on but I can't find any. I am in North Lancashire. Has anyone seen large containers anywhere around here?0

Other Chinese supermarkets carry it I think. I also get large buckets of bicarb from there.0 -
Does anyone know the best place to get white vinegar? I went to tesco yesterday and they were selling malt vinegar by the plastic tub but the biggest sized jar of white vinegar was about 500ml for soemthing likr 60p or so?0

Hi mrs baggins,
I have merged your thread with another very recent one on buying vinegar as it helps to keep all the suggestions together. Posts are listed in date order so you'll need to read from the beginning to see all the replies.

the other kind of vinegar you'll find is 'non-brewed condiment' which comes in white & brown (dyed) varieties. it's dilute industrially manufactured acetic acid. it has much the same chemical compostion as natural vinegar, just a different method of production0 -
The Sainsbury's value vinegar works out at about 34p a litre which is pretty good. I use it for everything except the whites wash. I don't really have the space to store 5l, and it would be difficult getting it back from Wing Yip on a bicycle!'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.'
