As much as I feel for the staff at Quinn maybe something like this will make people realise that cheap insurance simply isn't the way forward.

woohoo! what a bunch of cowboys they were anyway! I think more and more people are now realising the cheaper the cover the more hassle (and expense) when you claim/make changes

The thing is when faced with a difference of over a thousand pounds between quotes for first insurance there doesn't seem to be a choice !
If the cover appears to be the same it makes no sense to pay more.

    exactly.

My sister wanted insurance on her first car, Quinn was one of the few companies who didn't want to charge more than the car was worth... how many average punters bother to check the accounts of the company they are buying insurance with?

*Sigh* I really feel like a fool as I just renewed (though through monthly DB) with them last friday! Can anyone offer any advice? It's been mentioned in this post that current holders are supposed to be covered for the duration of their policy, though i'm really not sure what to do! I've been with them since I started driving (Just started my 4th yearly policy) and am worried about keeping my NCB, if\when I should switch etc. If anyone could help, I'd very much appriciate the help!
Thanks for all the thanks :)

For existing customers Quinn should function as normal, so they should contact you at renewal confirming your no claims. If they can't offer renewal, they will advise you of this. They may sell off their book to another Insurer, who will offer renewal under their terms.

The administration with Quinn is only temporary I understand, so I suppose it is possible they could sort themselves out at some point. I haven't read all the various press comments, but this seems to be financial problem, which may be resolved.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Thanks Huckster, so it's not as big deal as it seems? What if, touch wood, an accident occurs? I can imagine that they'll be a big hassle before any money is paid!
Thanks for all the thanks :)

I phoned them today regarding the policy I took out on Wednesday for my son and it seems to be buisness as usual. So fingers crossed the policy will be OK for the next year and then we can rethink the situation when renewal is due.
Whenever I've changed insurance companies in the past the renewal letter is taken as proof of no claims so you'll be OK if that comes through Calzone.

I've been left feeling a fool as well, but hey ho, worse things happen !!

You should not have a problem. I believe they have a duty to continuue business as normal for their existing customers. It is in their interest to do so, if they have any chance of looking to come out of administration.
