From around Telford following the A5 out into Wales, about a couple of hours (but during holidays periods slow traffic and caravans can make it a chore unless your a good overtaker, even then can be slow)

After Capel Curig take the left onto the A4086 into Snowdonia, then the right turn off winding over the mountains untill you drop down into Llanberis. On the stretch up into the mountains there is a car park and centre high up from which you can park and take an easy laid path walk, turn back when you have had enough. scenery is awesome.

Go on to Llanberis for lunch, take a trip around the power mountain facility, power station built in the rock, or maybe a scenic return trip on the steam train if they are running?

Or go the other way into Birmingham, theatre night out and meal?
Go down to Dudley (half an hour) and Black Country museum (living museum with actor characters) is not just for kids great day out.

Go down to Bridgnorth (near Telford) Beautiful town on the river for a wander, then take a return trip to Kidderminster on the Severn valley steam railway, to be honest most people do it the other direction as there is not much to do in Kidderminster. so I would drive to Kidderminster (maybe an hour?) and do the return steam train trip to Bridgenorth, lunch out there)
European for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.

    If you go for this option you can print off a 2-4-1 voucher here;

(more generally, that website is useful for details of other tourist attractions in the area)

The two that spring to mind immediately are:

    RAF Museum @ Cosford > http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/cosford/

    Ironbridge > http://www.ironbridge.org.uk/

Even if you don't want to go into the museums, you can still walk alongside the Severn at Ironbridge and the famous bridge, which is pretty scenic.

Other ideas, walking or mountain biking on Cannock Chase (you can hire bikes), or if you're National Trust members how about Shugborough.

There's several other NT properties in the Bridgnorth/Wolverhampton area too.

West Midlands Safari Park is on the edge of Kidderminster :) Hilarious if you can get a giraffe to dribble into your husband's eye through the sunroof :rotfl:

Haha! I have been trying to feed my kids to them for years... was going there today but weather yuck.

I bet the autospares shop bottom of the hill (can't remeber if its still there) was sad when they stopped the monkey section, I have stopped in there at least twice on the way home for new wiper blades!

Stafford has Shrugborough Hall. If its easter weekend you're going as its a National Trust property there should be a big easter egg hunt. Think my DDs got a cream egg at the end of it last time.

There is Cannock Chase on the edge of Stafford if you want to hire bikes I'd use Mammoth Lifestyle at Milford. (just seen post 4 also mentions these)

You're not really that far from Alton Towers if you fancied a trip there. Or if you just go a bit further then there are the pottery museums in Stoke or The Monkey Forest and Trentham Gardens.

Alton towers would be further away than stoke. But still both are worth travelling to. Stok can be done in 30/40 minutes from Stafford using the M6.

Stafford also has a castle, although it is mostly ruins now. Worth a look if your local to the area.
Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

As well as the Black Country Museum in Dudley there's also Dudley Zoo and Castle. There's also the Wren's Nest Nature Reserve just outside Dudley and Himley Hall.
