Can you bring up TASK MANAGER? (Ctrl, Alt + Del)
If so , you should find a wierd random name exe file that you can terminate

  • Hi
I Posted this in: another place YET as a new user can not pass on the URL to you.

The problem is once the lier is IN your system you can not trust ANYTHING in your system!!! therefore you need to scan the hard drive outside of your system (NOT booting from the hard drive)

The best known ways to get rid of a hosed PC are:
    1. Burn it:eek:
    2. TOTALLY reformat and re install:(
    3. Take your hard drive out and put it in another PC as a SLAVE drive and then do a scan of the slave drive:)
    4. Us a "live" linux CD that contain a virus scanner in it and boot from the CD IN your OWN PC and then scan your hard drive:j... Google = linux live cd with virus scanner
IT is for every one not just those that can see, know how or have a lot of money...

If you can borrrow someones computer id make a DR WEB LIVE CD ~
    http://www.freedrweb.com/livecd/

fact is that what you have is pretty new so most scanners simply wouldnt recognise it, but I suspect Dr Web would

  • Another thing to consider is a Firewall and a Web filter... It looks like the Mother needs more protection BUT this will work for all the users...
Now YES you could install a firewall locally OR the best is if you have an EXTERNAL firewall and Filter. This is not too difficult to setup and run on a home network but usually you need an extra piece of hardware on your network albeit an OLD pc (Pentium 3 will do just fine) or you need a small dedicated thingy me bob (Technical term!! This is a PC too but uses only 20W of power)

I will blog on my site about this at some point (AND NO this is not an ad for my site it is just too much to type out here AND back in my site)

Hi just to update you on things. I have somehow (not quite sure how) managed to get back onto laptop I have run the antimalware thingy as per ALIEnrek thread. New problem is now that the laptop does come on now but is very very slow it takes approx 15 mins to get to the desktop. Once at the desktop I am now unable to use the pc whatever I try to go to it just freezes on the timer I was going to post the log from the antimalware but I cant do it, it wont even let me get to it now to save to memory stick, so cant access anything on laptop but have at least managed to get it onto desktop and have run the security scanner

looks like a "factory restore" is going tobe the quickest and safest way to get it back working ok.
