They've probably been squezed out by rising labour costs in relation to product value, and/or mechanised production.0

That reminds me, what happened to toys inside boxes of cereal??
I vividly remember raking through a freshly opened box of cornflakes in order to get the plastic 'scuba diver' at the bottom, that you filled with baking powder.
..memories of collecting ivory coloured plastic of kings and queens of England..what was THAT about!0 -
When easter eggss had smarties inside, they always tasted horrible and not fresh. I'd perfer my chocolate outside to keep it fresher and nicer!"No likey no need to hit thanks button!":pHowever its always nice to be thanked if you feel mine and other people's posts here offer great advice:D So hit the button if you likey:rotfl:0

It is an outrageous deprivation to the pleasure and joy of being a child that they are no longer granted the pleasure of finding sweets placed inside Easter eggs. This monstrous modern habit of packing them outside the egg is despicable.
It was bad enough when they stopped leaving them loose inside the egg so you could no longer hear them rattle - they stuck them in a plastic bag. But now they can't even be bothered to stick the bag inside the eggs!!!
Time-table may be a bit off to lay this one on Kraft but I blame America anyway.
Really, is it that bad??!0 -
Yep - not quite old enough to remember them being loose. But I can certainly remember beign a little girl on Easter Sunday breaking my chocolate open to get the treat inside. Why did the treat inside always seem to much better :S
Can see economically its easier to do the outside the egg. And possibly it is better to keep fresh outside the egg but if you cant eat half gone off smarties on Easter sunday when can you lol.Learning to be 'good with money'0 -
So Kim, what's to stop you opening the egg up putting the sweets inside and then re-assembling the packaging?
Alternatively you could spend a bit more money and get some decent eggs for your little darlings.0 -
I noticed this year that some of the popular sweet brands of easter eggs were contained in almost closed boxes, so not only could you not see how big the egg is, you couldn't see what else is included either. I know you can read the contents off the box, but it's not the same.0

I've boycotted big commercial boxed easter eggs this year - my lil uns are getting a Lidl choc rabbit/mini eggs and mini rabbits pack each, and a bag of Haribo easter mix!0
