Easter Eggs - stick the sweets/bars INSIDE the egg, not separately

It is an outrageous deprivation to the pleasure and joy of being a child that they are no longer granted the pleasure of finding sweets placed inside Easter eggs. This monstrous modern habit of packing them outside the egg is despicable.
It was bad enough when they stopped leaving them loose inside the egg so you could no longer hear them rattle - they stuck them in a plastic bag. But now they can't even be bothered to stick the bag inside the eggs!!!
Time-table may be a bit off to lay this one on Kraft but I blame America anyway.

It is probably so that it makes it appear that you are getting "more" for your money?
Easter Eggs are, and always have been, an extremely expensive way of buying chocolate/chocolate bars, by comparison.0 -
I think the above poster right.0

I agree.
I always buy the smaller eggs (smarties, maltesers etc) just to say they've got an Easter egg and then buy the 'treat' size multi packs to go with the eggs.
It's much more MSE, gives the kids lots of choice and also allows Mum to monitor sweets.0 -

They've been much cheaper in recent years if you shop around for bargains. I've bought some eggs from Tesco on promo at 97p, which have two Creme Eggs/two tubes of Smarties/two tubes of Rolo's etc., in, plus a chocolate egg.
You normally pay 40-45p for a single Creme Egg/Smarties/Rolo, so it's pretty good value I think. Here I go again on my own....0 -

I've seen an economy Smarties egg this year thats about 4in / 100mm where there is no packaging other than foil on the outside. I'm assuming the Smarties are on the inside...
I know what the OP means tho. If I go back 30 odd years () when I was a young kid the exitement of getting to the treat inside was great!0 -
Yes, there is a smarties egg with the smarties loose inside this year, I saw them in the Co-op.0

It's because it's easier and therefore cheaper, to manufacture a whole egg with nothing in it.

That reminds me, what happened to toys inside boxes of cereal??
I vividly remember raking through a freshly opened box of cornflakes in order to get the plastic 'scuba diver' at the bottom, that you filled with baking powder.0
