Car not fixed properly after insurance claim

Options
This is a long story and feel as though it has been going on for ever.

On 11th December 2 cars ran into the back of my car causing considerable damage - the car was not drivable and so I have been driving a courtesy car since.

The garage did not collect the car until new year's eve and so my car has been caught up in the queue of cars damaged during the snow.

After many phone calls during which I was given a variety of excuses about why the repairs were taking so long, my car has been returned today.

My brother-in-law, who owns his own garage, has looked at the car and says it is not safe to drive on the road because parts of the wing and the bumper have not been re-attached properly and could fall off while the car is moving. Parts of the metal work are still bent and there is now a seam accross the roof where it has not been repainted properly.

The car will be 12 months old at the end of this week, so at the time of the accident was only 8 months old, and is still subject to a HP agreement. I agreed that the insurance company could arrange the repairs as long as VW approved the repairer.

I could cry!

I'm not even sure who I complain to the insurance company are HSCB but they left AI Claims solution to deal with my claim - I have tried phoning them but their phone lines are closed.

Can anyone advise me who I can complain to and how to make sure my car is repaired properly?

...and don't fret or cry! it's only a lump of metal (and plastic!). As dacouch says contact your insurance co. and explain why you think the car hasn't been repaired properly and take it from there. I'd not mention your B-in-L...I would suggest it was an independant garage...what it is your insurance co.?

Most Insurance companies offer between 3-5 years guarantee on repairs, if it isn't up to standard tell them to fix it and if they don't, get an independent engineer to inspect the vehicle and comment on the quality of repairs.

It was HSBC but my insurance was due for renewal on 14th Feb and they had bumped my premium up to £1100 plus missed several dates in which they had told me the car would be ready so I changed to AA.

It is still HSBC who you must deal with over this. (AA are not in anyway involved with your problem)
