I do all of mine covertly. A lot quicker than having to queue and sign in etc. Things that will slow you down are if they're stocking the shelves and lots of people who can't decide what to buy!!! I've given up caring if I get funny looks, and even managed to take them in one shop whilst a MOS went around tidying them. Most are totally oblivious.

Anyway! My photos are taken on my phone which is 2mp. They're not great. If you have a long journey I'd just check that everything is ok before you leave. I haven't had any complaints about the quality though.

thanks i wouldn't be able to check before i leave as i need to come home to use the mac to get my reports in. the other advice is great thank you as i was just worried that my phone wont take good enough pictures

I've been frogmarched by security to the manager 4 times now (I do 7 stores)......and that was doing overt ones after signing in:eek:

Oh no! I've abandoned one of my stores before as felt security were lurking near me... went back and finished off another day. Another of them is one which must be done covertly and the aisle concerned is right next to the checkout in a fairly small store. Don't like doing that one!!

Just check through the photos on your phone whilst you're still in the car park. I've been caught out before with blurry pics - thankfully only in local stores, but now I always have a quick flick through them before driving home.

thanks for the information i will now be worried even more! :D
the store i have to do is one i shop in every week so at least i know where some of the stuff might be and its not near tills so thats something. if you are doing it covertly and there was a security problem what are you supposed to do?!? I know its supposed to covert but I feel like having an authorisation letter on me just incase i had to explain to the police or something what i am doing.

one of the shopping centres i go to recently was on the local news a while back and seems like their new security rule is if you are seen taking ANY photos of the outside of shops security will want your phone and want to know what you are doing - i would die of embarrassment if that ever happened... I have a shop there next week and i need a photo so i will be taking extra care to check for security guards and then leaving really quickly by the nearest exit :D

Why do I look at the AbAi website when I am away tomorrow morning for the weekend and I know I can not do anything on there in the timescale

They came on in my area (Scotland) yesterday and were gone in a flash.....except for a popular Scottish island which is still there now actually.

can anyone tell me with the crisp stuff when you are doing a covert job do the pics have to be of the same calibre and quality/quantity. My visits are covert and I am really worried I am not going to get them all done. The one job is local so that's fine as a practice one for tomorrow but other one is 60mile round trip and I will not be able to go back if there's a problem.

Agree with Lil_me - I do most of mine covertly too. Have had to return another day because of shelf stackers before (they come out in force in one of my stores over the weekend!). One store is a bit of a nightmare as it has narrow aisles so you end up having to take twice as many pics... and it's a bit harder to do it discretely when you have to angle your phone just right!

Don't worry... the more you do it the easier it gets!
