My first audit in a totally new shop took 2.5 hours. Generally the problems are around finding the right size whatever you're looking for. If you know the shop I'd allow 1.5-2 hours especially if it's an open audit. If it's covert you can save time by not having to sign in.
Only time I had a problem was when 2 of us turned up (other one 20 mins after I did) and she was refused entry as the store manager was worried we'd have different results.
Mobile phone knowledge check - I just smiled very sweetly and cheerily told the guy I was here to give him a pop quiz. Luckily he saw the funny side. It was the first time the guy had heard of it, but he was very compliant. Just make a point of telling them you don't know the answers! My guy liked that he could feedback.0 -
Littleoldme wrote: »Availability Audits Brief Availability Audits Brief I am doing a supermarket availability audit next week and this is the first one of these I have done and am just wondering if any of you more experienced people have any advise or guidance to offer regarding doing them? It is actually on a supermarket I use a fair bit so I know the layout of it which I hope will help.
I have about 200 items to check, roughly how long should I expect it to take, again I know this will depend on a lot of factors but roughly..
I am assuming that generally the manager (or whoever deals with you) are ok with you being there and doing the audit or do you tend to get resentment from them?
On another note I am doing a mobile phone “knowledge check” tomorrow, again the first one I have done and wondering what the best way is to introduce what you are doing to the staff member you approach. Is this something they expect to get or is it going to come totally out of the blue?
Thanks for your help with these – one day I hope to be experienced enough to be answering the questions not asking them..
i think the biggest factor is how large the store is. my first one took 3 hours as the store was an extra large one :eek: however i do not even shop at that chain let alone that store so i spent ages trying to find things! i also had no idea what some of the products looked like eg the wine and had to read every shelf edge to find it! easiest thing to do if you the product is not obvious is read the shelf edges as they are easier to scan than the products. it gets much quicker even the second time as you know where things are and you know most of the products so can go straight to themgood luck

Hi everyone,
I have just returned from my first MS and am about to fill in the questionaire, but am stuck on the first bit. I feel really thick asking this but when it asks about buildings to the left and right does it mean to the left/right as you are looking at the shop or does it mean to the shop's left/right as if you are in the entrance looking out into the street?(does this make sense?)0 -

I've always done left and right as you look at it.0 -

It probably doesnt matter, as long as the two stores are correct, probably doesnt matter which way round they are.
I always do it as if I am looking at the store, and I note the store to my left and right. Some assignments also ask for what is opposite the store0 -
Thanks for those replies, that was how I was going to do it but I think I'm a bit paranoid being new!!!!0

Just had a call from Retail Active, been told that loads of jobs are going live in the next week or two, so keep an eye out :-)0

It is definitely as you look at it - I remember reading this in a couple of the tests when I first started and have always gone with it for all companies!0 -
Has anyone done any of the helion phone jobs yet?0
