Ok, need to write it down before i change my mind!! I've challenged myself to have my 1st NSD tomorrow. Going home for a couple of days & i know my dad will have a house full of food, so no reason to spend. Am not going to pop into town "incase there are different shops" (i know they it's the same high street as anywhere else!!).
I'm going to stay home & help my dad cook something yummy out of the store cupboard.
Start as you mean to go on i reckon!!

I know i'm encouraging you to have a NSD, but just a reminder for those that guzzle large quantities of petrol that it goes up at midnight. According to MSE though it's better to have half a tank rather than a full tank as you go through more fuel pulling round the extra weight of a full tank.

    Enjoy your Wednesday!

Thanks for the reminder and for the tip about it's better to have half a tank rather than a full one. I always fill up my tank and wondered why the first half always goes down so quickly. I have half a tank at the moment and was debating whether it would be best to have a NSD today and not fill up until the weekend or whether I would be saving more by filling up today instead. What would be the MSE thing to do?

    Hi Solve,

Please put me down for 10. IT's the first time I've tried this so I'm starting small, especially as it's Easter and I've got other pending matters.

    Good luck everyone.

Do you all class ebay postage in your NSDs? I have been classing days i just send postage as spend days. But this really messes up my total. Technically it isn't spending my money as it is postage paid for by ebay buyer. I send postage a few days a week. Usually Monday and weds as they are my work days. But these are days i don't spend anything else.

Though if i ignore postage when calculating NSD's then i feel i am cheating a bit!

I know you make your own rules but....

    What are your thoughts?

Haven't got a flippng clue micron. Here's what MSE says:-

"Don't fill it up. Efficiency Improvement: Up to 1%
Fuel is heavy, so by filling the car up you're adding quite a weight. The less fuel your car has in it, the more efficiently it drives. Thus filling up slightly more often and putting less in (to 1/2 or 3/4 full) will make the car run more efficiently."

This was taken from the guide on Motoring & Travel and there are more hints and tips to make your fuel go that little bit further. I've always filled up - it feels tidier and neater to fill up and then go right down and then fill up and then go right down (part of my budget OCD I think). But am going to make a concerted effort not to fill up in future. I will put around £12 in tonight to get it to 3/4 full as am doing 200 miles before I will be down at my BF's where he has cheaper petrol anyway and can't make it otherwise.

But let's see if I can work it out.....The bit where I get my knickers in a twist:-
So my car (fiesta) has a 40 litre tank (8.79 gallons) and at my local garage it's 116.99 per litre so that's £46.80 for a tank. Currently getting 40.1mpg so thats 352.5 miles per tank. If my efficiency drops by say 1% because I've topped up to a full tank (to save 10p as I currently have a 1/4 tank) then my mpg might become 39.7mpg then ........hang on, I gave up and went and got a coffee and a cheeky kitkat.

If it's going up 1p per litre then what the hell am I worrying for??
    That's 40p extra per tank.

Panic over. Sorry for the false alarm :o It's just that in the past months I've seen the cost of a tank go up by about £5 and I do quite a bit of mileage so I've become my father and am obsessed by pump prices :rotfl:

Right........whatother scare mongering can I do today.............
