All working now  just one prob is that the signal strength isn't v.good at all - my laptop picks up a 5 bar signal whereas the usb on the desktop picks up a 3 bar only and the router is only two walls and 2-3 metres away
is it a fault/poor producy quality? 0 -

You may find that using a short USB extension cable would help, so that you could vary the position of the dongle to get optimum signal strength. Laptops often have their aerials mounted in the screen, so that they are at the top when it's in use. Lots of things can affect WiFi signals, I recently saw a case where the signal was attenuated due to a central heating radiator on the other side of a wall to where the PC was situated. Three bars should be sufficient for it to work reliably just like on mobiles with one bar of signal.

Signal strength is now up to 3/4 bars so all fine in that department

One prob though is that when I startup on this PC with the USB wireless, the wireless symbol indicates that it's connected ok, at 54.0Mbps, Very good signal, but when I open OE or try to access webpages, it gives the standard "Can't find server" message.
However, this is solved if I open the wireless window and disconnect then connect again (the key is already stored) then it will work.
Why does this happen and how can Crabby fix this??
