well I would have to buy a lot more! But then we do eat a lot of fresh food and tonnes of veg. I am very lucky as the boys love lots of veg ad we go through 2 bags of apples every week, 5/6 large bananas and a bag od satsumas.

Me too panda, my fruit/veg bill alone each month is £30 at least, so that's why I suggested that with several fruit/veg/bread/milk top ups a month, the £45 budget would surely be exceeded.

I would love to shrink my food shopping outgoings, but particularly now the school hols are here, if anything it has increased. And fruit and veg are the last things I want to be cutting back on.

Will you please read the whole thread properly. I don't really want to keep repeating myself. I do go back for more fruit and it doesn't come to any more than £45 a month.

Yes one big bag of dog food does last a month but I've got a very small yorkshire terrier so thats probably why. If you have a great dane you will have to adjust the amounts.

I will go back there twice a week in the next month to stock up on fruit, vegetables, bread and milk.
Just for those people who haven't read the first post properly:D

Thanks for your list BS, it's not what I'd have bought(I'd have spent less on puds and more on alcohol:rotfl: ) but it shows how you can really keep costs down if you plan meals carefully and only buy what you need.

I have read your post B_S, I have read you spent £34 on an inital shop plus delivery making it £37 ish, then if you go back 8 times extra your bound to spend at least £2 per shop for milk, bread and fruit etc making it a minimum of £53.

I agree. My purchases would be of an entirely different nature and probably cost 3/4 times as much per month but that's still a hell of a lot less than what I was spending since I started menu planning and bargain hunting. I just wanted to say thankyou to BS for sharing her particular plan with us - it may not be everyone's idea of a balanced diet but it does show that with a bit of careful planning you can feed a family for a lot less per month than you think you can.

even at fifty three pounds a month thats impressive, just thirteen pounds a week for three, thats bound to be encouraging to people trying to cut back because of debt etc
