Sorry don't know why I just presumed you were a he, if your OH is a rubbish cook definitely don't let him in the kitchen!!

Have you been to Saltaire or Port Sunlight? I haven't but have heard they're both well worth a day out, probably even OK if the weather isn't great. The NT properties would also be good. In the Peak District I really enjoyed visiting the caves, which is good in bad weather but obviously a small cost.

All the Manchester museums already mentioned are great (and free!) Lots in Liverpool too. Will have more of a think, what do you like doing in your spare time (if you get any as a chef!)

    too many comps..not enough time!

If you're an active person this place is meant to be great, it's in a converted church:

If there is just the two of you then why not get in some nice food and have picnics in bed, romance - you don't even need to leave the house for it! LOL
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

It's meant to be really good, not been myself has not really a heights person (and not sure they'd let a heavily pregnant woman up the wall anyway!) but I think because it was a church it really adds atmosphere.

Another one I thought of that is a bit weather dependent - Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
