School prices seem very good. This is not through school, just during the summer break. Cost was £519 for the 7 nights ., its the dalguise one that is nearest ot us.

Oh so I didn't just imagine it was called that! DD really enjoyed it, they really pack loads into the day and have camp fire sing alongs at night and things.

It would prob be something that is remembered for a long time so I would say go for it if you can afford it!

Or be really cheeky and phone and haggle, don't ask don't get and all that!!

I paid £160ish for 4 days 3 nights but that was through the school so prop a better rate. That was the one in Perth but I don't remember the camp name, Dalguise maybe??
    Would not pay £350!!!

Yep he went to Dalguise. Itwas for a full 5 night stay. It was steep think thats why they have changed the dates around as parents did complain...Im just glad we got to pay in installments:eek:

Oh yeah, didn't think of dates doh! DD's school went in April, prob why it was cheaper.
  • My son has been on one of these and loved it.

PGL do a 'First Timers' deal for £99 I think it's 3 days, it's only applicable for a multi-activity break though.

Glad someone pointed out the first timer's holiday!

My son went last year mid-summer for £99 - three days and two nights. He was so exited when I picked him up - and totally hoarse from all the shouting and singing! He was hungry but then he eats more than me most days!

I'd definitely do that first off to see if it suits :)

My son used to go and have a whale of a time (and he's far from a sporty/'joiner' sort of kid). They have themed weeks so there's something for everyone.

It wasn't cheap, but I always used to book early and get one of their special deals. Usually 2 for one - so with one kid, he got to go for two weeks. Actually it was good value overall - I was a working single parent, and it worked out much cheaper to do that during two of the school holiday weeks, than pay for full-time childcare locally!
Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.

When I was teaching we organised trips to France with PGL. They were excellent. Very well run with qualified instructors. All staff are trained and have health & safety qualifications. Food was fine unless kids are very fussy indeed and not prepared to try things. Loads of activities provided and trips etc.

Our DD is off to Dalguise later this year, however, the cost is well over £200 for 4 nights - her school seems to spend a fortune on buses compared to some other schools, that's the reason , they tell us, that it's so expensive.

The school has been going to Dalguise for many years now, the kids love it, I think it's great for them.
