Im not meant to be getting Council Tax Benefits

In march I called my council to state that my oh had gone back to work and that I would no longer qualify for any benefits and they said ok
I got a letter confirming what I had told them and then I had to pay back an overpayment of about £16 which was fair enough and then on, I have been paying my council tax but they refunded it in Janaury. I called them and they said its their mistake, just pay it back, so I did. It was again refunded and this time I decided to put it in writing in which they responded with 'it was an error, they will correct it, just pay the money back to the c.tax account' which I did.
I made another payment in feb which was refunded and I went into the benefits centre to be told the same thing, I then received my c.tax bill for 09/10 stating I do not need to pay anything until next month, which is okay, but now I have received a bill stating that I do not have to pay anything as I am on full benefits. So what do I do now?
I am lost, I have written to them, called them, gone into the centre and they keep sending me back the payments. The only thing I can think of is to keep paying and any money the return to me, I should place it into a savings account so when they do finally get sense, they will send me a large bill and I have the money waiting for them.
Any other ideas of how I should handle this?

Hun i would personally if it were me go and talk to your neighbourhood office if you have one or the local Citizens Advice because sometimes they do get their wires crossed and if your over paid they will want it back i know i have been there, take all letters with you when you go:oAutism isn't the end of the world just a journey to another one:)
:eek:Why do people answer your questions just to be rude and unhelpful, don't like my question please don't answer:eek:0 -
In LA's we have to run the annual bills at the end of February and so if you called them to notify of the change in March, it is likely that the change has been made but no new bill will be generated until April.
This is due to the number of bills they have to issue.
If you contact and ask for a statement of your account, you will hopefully get something showing payments to be made.I currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.

How many times can you tell them.
Although just one last go, recorded delivery to ensure you have proof, or what ever postage you need to show you posted and they have received it.
Then when they start getting shirty and want their money, you have it in a savings account and you get the interest0
