We are having a reasonably small wedding, 30 in total including myself, OH and daughter. We wanted quite a 'champagne' wedding on 'lager' prices so we've kept the guest list very short but spent quite a bit per person. We are using a small but old hotel, with only 22 bedrooms so it has bags of charater but we don't run the risk of our day being shared with a 'bigger' wedding in another function room! We not calling it small, we are calling 'select and relaxed' :D

We're having 35 to the day and 100ish to the evening.

We were originally meant to get married at our venue, but that had to be scrapped because of them, so we're getting married in the reg office and then off to the venue to have a 2 course carvery in the afternoon, and a big hot buffet for the evening. We'll be staying over in the hotel for the night, as that's free.

I'll be wearing a wedding dress, nothing too flamboyant, just something simple (ish!). OH will be wearing a new suit, shirt and tie. Not a weddingy suit though.

I'm having a car to take me there and we're having a photographer.

I'm having my 12 year old daughter as my bridesmaid. (Her dress will probs cost more than mine lol)

A friend is now making our cake, so we don't have to pay out for that.

So it's not a small wedding, but not a big white wedding either.

Think all in all it will be costing about 3K.

Oh and OH has booked our honeymoon to go 2 days after the wedding, we're off to Lanzarote and that only cost £550!

We're on the Wirral in Merseyside. We did get them to drop the price of the afternoon food ~ we didn't want a formal sit down meal, so we chose a carvery, which they don't normally do on a Saturday, but we're having the restaurant to ourselves, so they let us have one!

We were meant to be getting married at 3pm you see, so were just going to have canapes for people to nibble, but now we're getting married at 11.30am so need to feed our day guests something proper!

NEH, that sounds absolutely perfect to me :) And that is also how we feel, i would rather spend the money on an experience like a special honeymoon, a big once in a life time trip, or just doing house improvemments etc.

I just didnt want to regret having a tiny, non traditional wedding. BNut that is what we want, and that is what we shall have! Well, think we may still marry in church, but then not have it as formal.

Its funny because your wedding NEH sounds so lovely, and reminded me of when OH propsed to me. I was talking to him about this a couple of days ago when trying to talk to him about organising the wedding! ( i know we're planning to get married in May next year , but i can see that things get booked pretty quick!) I just said to him, when he proposed, we were in the blue lagoon, and there were quite a few people in the water and on the beach, but when he got down on his knee in the water, and proposed, it felt like there was a bubble around us and just me and him there, as if that was all that mattered. I want my wedding to be like that!!!

Have you thought about getting married inTurkey? You could always have a church blessing when you come home and for anyone that misses the actual day or couldn't afford to come have a meal in a local restaurant or drinks somewhere when you get back home, that's what we did.

It also cuts down the number of guests as well. That was another reason we went abroad as we would have had to invite people we last saw when we were 2 years old and haven't contacted us since nor even sent a Christmas card and we felt that would have been in a way like having our day with strangers present.
